We always pop in for a drink on our way out for dinner when we are in St Ives (twice a year), always a friendly welcome, good choice of beer & wines, also a great choice of food if you choose to dine in the pub, they also have a fine dining restaurant (The Captains Table) we have eaten here... A satisfyingly large fish plate with new potatoes - more than we could manage - we slipped some smoked salmon in a doggie bag for our breakfast the next morning. Fantastic harbour side location. Nothing special otherwise. Bar staff chatting to each other a bit noisily for my taste.

this was the fourth and final hotel my wife and I had stayed in during a recent trip to Cornwall and we saved the best for last. To summarise: Good points: Great location in the heart of st Ives We arrived very early and I was met by the barman who could not have been more helpful, he called the... More

It's a busy 700 year old pub with about 10 letting rooms (that's my guess), it's ideally located at the far end of the seafront entertainments. My room was off the alleyway to the side of the pub. My room was huge, with a kitchen area, ensuite bathroom and sofa in front of the TV. The housekeeping is superb, everything... More

I'm reviewing the accommodation not the bar. My room, 'The Net Loft' is a cute bedroom with kitchenette, tv area and a small ensuite bathroom. It's accessed by a Dickensian cobbled alleyway and a large iron key opens the door. The room was big, spotless and comfortable, I really enjoyed staying there. The location is unbeatable in Ives -it's just... More

The pub/hotel is in a great location right on the front .The bar is fun and professionally managed by Leah and the rooms are just what you expect from a Pub/BB now the BAD STUFF A DO NOT EAT UPSTAIRS IN THE CAPTAIN'S CABIN The food was grim just why the UK had such a bad reputation for example had... My husband took me to this 1300s inn & pub for my birthday dinner. It was very popular, without side seating packed, and upstairs seating not full, but 45 minute wait. We made one other attempt to eat elsewhere, but quickly returned and put our name in. We had cider and a gin&tonic at the bar while we waited.. friendly,... More

We stayed here for 3 nights in the Courtyard Suite. Unfortunately we could not get a room with seaview, but it was a perfect room - situated behind the Sloop Inn - really quiet eventhough it was next to a terracebar. Really good breakfast and the restaurant "Captains Table" was good! We had a 3 course meal on a special... More

Lovely pub in an enviable position. My contention is that their service is very discourteous, downright rude, serving locals first and visitors last. I witnessed a local walk in, shout the barman's name (John), and then get served THROUGH the queue of 3 visitors. They need to remember who makes up 90% of their custom before treating visitors so discorteously.
