Nice and cosy B&B, close to train station (less 5 minutes walk), silence at night, friendly staff (they even gave us chocolate eggs for Easter), good english breakfast (egg, bacon, mushrooms, sausages, toast, tea), comfortable beds, but small bathroom.

There are lots of mixed reviews, so I'm going to list positives and negatives. My boyfriend and I stayed here during Easter, the weather wasn't great - which was a shame, as St Ives is beautiful in the sun. The positives: Friendly staff Good location from a beach and short drive into town Room 3 - comfy bed Nice Parking... More

I think I now know why there are such mixed reviews on this hotel. Stayed recently and originally stayed in room two which is pictured on here. Room two is disappointing, small and outdated. The ensuite is in a very small cupboard and the sink is in the bedroom itself. In my opinion room two is not worth the price... More

My wife and I recently stayed at The Borthalan Hotel. We booked because the hotel has parking, was well located for getting into St Ives by train and was affordable when compared to other hotels in the area which had availability during peak season. The hotel is well located - just a few minutes walk up the hill from Carbis... More

We have just spent 4 nights here and wanted to give Martin and Margaret 5 stars. This is a comfortable clean well run small hotel run by exceptionally hard working people. It isnt a corporate 4 star bland chain hotel with white linen and magazine finishes if you want that then stay somewhere else! We found this hotel a delight... More

We spent 4 days at the Bortholan and our opinion is totally positive. Our room was very nice, not very big to be sincere, but very comfy anyway. It also had such a lovely view over Carbis bay and it was a real pleasure to enjoy it every morning at the wake up. The breakfast provided was really good too:... More

For the 2 of us, it worked out as £530 - that's 6 nights for 2 people including a good cooked breakfast... which is not expensive; considering that the Travel Lodge will set you back at least £75 a night. The bed was very comfortable and from the window, I could see the sea... my only complaint would be that... More
