My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Bothalan, Margaret and Martin were the most welcoming and accomodating hosts we have ever come across. Hotel spotless and our room was nicely decorated with fantastic sea views. For those who travel by train (like we did this time) the Borthalan is only a couple of... more

Our group stayed in 2 rooms during the late May bank holiday. While the rooms and ensuites are small, they are impeccably clean and adequately furnished. The owners, Margaret and Martin, could not have been more friendly and helpful. Breakfast was made to order and more than adequate. The tariff was reasonable in an expensive area. It is a short... more

We stayed at the Borthalan Hotel from 3rd May - 10th May 2009. I would recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone whether they are thinking of visiting St Ives for a weekend break or for longer as we did. The rooms were very well kept, clean and had everything we needed. The full english breakfasts are great and set you... more

I wish my stay could have been longer then one night, St Ives is a beautiful place and staying at this hotel made it even better. The hosts are very friendly, the hotel is very clean and the food is excellent. It's a short walk to Carbis bay beach, and about a 20 minute walk to central St Ives. If... more

Ideally situated in Carbis Bay just a short £2.00 return trip on the local train to St Ives. Much better than staying in St Ives as parking is at a premium. We had a sea view room spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Martin and Margaret are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was excellent and kept us... more

Just come back from a 3 day stay at the Borthalan - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this b and b. lovely views and a short (albeit hilly) walk away from Carbis Bay with St Ives a short train ride away. Very hospitable hosts and a lovely breakfast each morning made the stay even more enjoyable. more

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Borthalan in St.Ives. The owners, Martin and Margaret are two of the most friendly people we have met. Very hospitable while at the same time respecting our privacy. The room had a beautiful view over St. Ives bay which really lifted our spirits! The bed was firm and comfortable and... more

Very friendly owners. Enjoyed our stay very much. The room, though small, was clean and well laid out. Unfortunately we didn't have a sea view but were really only using the room as a base to visit family and friends. Nice breakfasts, freshly cooked, with a very good choice on the menu. Highly recommended. more

What can we say? These guys are how all hosts should be, so take note! They couldn't do enough for us, with Martin running us into St Ives on a very wet Friday evening then again to the wedding we were attending on Saturday. Thanks for your hospitality! The other 2 reviews pretty much sum the place up, and with... more

My girlfriend took me away with her Parents and we stayed at the Borthalan. The first thing we noticed were the excellent views of Carbis Bay. Inside the Hotel the decor was nice and tidy and the owners were very friendly and couldn't do enough to make our stay very nice. Breakfast was very nice with a very varied range.... more
