We have stayed in this unique hotel many times now. The position is right at the sea's edge, overlooking the beach and harbour. this hotel has one of the best locations in st ives. where else can you eat an excellent breakfast watching fishing boats at work just 200 metres away, gannets diving ,sun streaming in through the windows. where else could you sleep with the relaxing white noise of the sea. our room had a view of porthminster beach from the bedroom... more

It's an interesting place. The views are to die for - especially on a beautifully sunny morning. The bar and restaurant area is contemporary. Large leather sofas, chilled background music. Small, badly designed rooms with very dated decor and cheap furniture and fittings. Bathrooms so small that the basin is in the bedroom. Mouldy shower mats and mould round the edges of the shower. No hot water from the basin tap. Stained carpets. Broken heater. Poor quality breakfast. Tatty communal areas. Litter, dirt and leaves on the terraces. Arrogant, incompetant... more
