If you are looking for a hotel in St Ives, centrally located without having to negotiate your car around the narrow lanes, then this is the place for you. Welcoming staff, thoughtful service and excellent food. If you like chintz, it has that, too. If you can, pay extra for a sea view. more

Having read earlier reviews, I am mystified by certain remarks. We arrived at Chy an Albany on Friday, 23rd May and were given a warm welcome. Our room (double De Luxe Sea View) was absolutely superb - decor, comfort, view over the ocean - all wonderful. The little extras (sparkling and still water etc) were all there. The en-suite was... more

We arrived with high expectations but they were quickly drowned by the wall to floor floral jungle. The friendly staff and cleanliness couldn’t be faulted but considering the astronomical room rate and quality of the amenities the experience was subpar. If you’re in the mood for a 1970’s floral themed British hotel experience and happy to pay handsomely for the... more

On a hill with little to no traffic noise, short walk to beach, wonderful glassed quiet sitting area overlooking the ocean.... bar has reasonable prices and a great selection of whisky. Breakfast was hot, fast and filling, staff is friendly and helpful..... Got great suggestions as to sights to see at this end of Cornwall. I'm a Yank, and my... more

We have just returned from a fantastic New Year in St Ives, this was our fourth time celebrating New Year in St Ives and definately our best. We stayed at Chy-an-Albany and thought it was great, nice room with lovely view overlooking the bay, I always think the colour of the sea at St Ives is like no where else,... more

The best thing about the Chy an Albany is the fact that they have their own car park. Parking in St Ives is at a premium so it's a real bonus. We booked a "Deluxe Room" with seaview. The view was of the sea but the room was small by anyone's standards. The bathroom was more of a cupboard with... more

The stay here was terrible. Fawlty Towers sprang to mind, accompanied by dated furniture and a mismatch of floral walls, floors and decorations throughout My room was tiny and unwelcoming and very dated. When sat at a table for breakfast I was asked to move as some regular normally sits there. This was followed by a wholly sub-standard breakfast. All... more

I was disappointed with my room at the Chy-an-Albany. When I booked on the phone, I was told that the room would look over the car park. In fact it faced a wall. It was small and dark, and had a tiny internal shower room. Worse of all it was over the kitchens and was very noisy and a bit... more

We had a great stay. The location is beautiful, overlooking the sea but removed from traffic noise. Shopping and harbour restaurants are within walking distance. We had booked standard rooms which were simple but adequate. Breakfast was excellent, We didn't have dinner there but were able to visit many of the excellent restaurants at the harbor. Staff were helpful and... more

My partner and I were greeted by a wonderful young woman at reception, who was both helpful and understanding in our need to wear our Wonder Woman and Batman costumes during our stay at their hotel. The decor matched the era of our costumes to a tee,so we felt totally at ease. We were somewhat disappointed at the heights of the... more
