Travelled with Shearings on 8 December. Great location Approximately 15 minutes walk to centre of St Ives which can be reached either by walking straight down the road from the hotel or by crossing the road going down the steps and following the path/small road by the sea (recommend the second option). The railway station is just 2 minutes walk... More

We returned from our holiday at this hotel last friday evening having travelled by Searings Coaches. I have to report that the place is being re-decorated with all public rooms smelling quite badly of paint. I feel extremely sorry for anyone (like me) who suffers a chest complaint or worse. After the next tour which ends Friday 12th December the... More

The hotel is having major refurbishment at the present and any disturbance kept to the minimum. As many people have commented it will look fantastic once completed, and the hotel will have a new look come Christmas. The comments regarding food have been favourable so surprised to read your comments. Chris is a very proud Cornishman who hopes to show... More

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your break with us, I agree that when all the refurbishment is complete it will look great. In actual fact room 106 is having a make over of its own in Feb 2015 along with a number of other rooms. When booking a £10.00 charge can secure a room number so you will know... More

Recently returned from a weekend visit to this lovely hotel. We travelled as a couple with National holidays. It was quite a long trek from Wakefield but well worth it. We stayed in room 317. Lovely spacious room with the most beautiful view overlooking the bay. Room nice and clean, bed very comfortable, loads of towels. It took a long... More

Thank you for your review. The refurbishment work is in full swing now and by Christmas the public areas lounges and dining room together with reception will all be complete. It will certainly transform the hotel inside and I think that the designer has captured the light, bright St Ives in his work. More

My first Shearings holiday with a new friend. The hotel was clean, good food, excellent staff. The bedroom with its sea view was a treat. St Ives a delight even in winter. Hilly yes but we are reasonably fit. There is a lift in the hotel for those who need it. Easy to get to other Cornish places too. Even... More

My sister and I travelled with Shearings (and David our driver was very cheerful and helpful) and we cannot fault this hotel, its old and full of character with brilliant views over the bay. We stayed at the hotel last year and liked it so much we went back again this year. The food was really good and piping hot,... More

Stayed here with shearings, excellent value for money. Good location, not good though if you have mobility problems as it's very hilly. Coach driver Eddie is a credit to shearings excellent historian wealth of knowledge. Would we go back again. No, because it's a very long way to go for 4 days wished we had booked 5 days instead.

During the summer months we run Saturday to Saturday tours, in the spring and Autumn the tours are Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday. However the tours can be linked to make it a week if coming from the same area. That is one way to enjoy a longer stay. The refurbishment programme is in full swing now and... More

I could find no fault at all with the hotel. The staff were very efficient, helpful and friendly. There was a good choice of meals which arrived hot and nicely presented. My room was small but had a balcony with a magnificent view of the bay. I enjoyed the nightly entertainment which was varied with something for all tastes.I thoroughly... More

Thank you for your positive comments. The views you get whilst enjoying the balcony of room 16 are amazing. The hotel is currently in the middle of a refurbishment programme and will look fabulous when completed so why not book for 2015 and see for yourself. Hope to see you again in the future. More
