We have travelled a lot in our time encountering all sorts of hotels but this must be one of the best. We used the hotel as a jumping off point for the Isles of Scilly. It was important for us that the stay was restful and able to sort out our luggage before and after the holiday. They could not... More

Location.Penzance is small, and hotel is 10 minutes walking from trainn station and downtown. No bad, but nothing special, similar to others hotels in Penzance. Room with a good size. Breakfast was good, with option as vegetarian breakfast, haddock with poachhed eggs. But the juice, means orange juice, come in a ridiculous size, in a small glass.Maybe enough for take a pill,... Thank you for your feedback. We are currently in the process of setting up card payment facilities at Mount Royal, and these should be in operation soon once the formalised subscription process with the service providers is complete. However, at the time of your online booking we very clearly advertised our payment terms at the time. We are generous in... More

Almost a step back in time, but in a good way. Excellent personal service from the time we arrived to the time we left. Stylish decor and the quainest staff uniforms we've ever seen. Rooms clean and breakfast excellent. Would recommend to anyone visiting the Cornish coast.

If you are not sensitive to traffic, and train noise (not forgetting the helicopters going to the nearby, 0.6 miles, heliport) then you will be able to appreciate the great view from the front bedrooms. The level of attention and quality of breakfast was excellent but overall the Mount Royal fell short in some key areas. Apart from the noise problem... More

Thank you for your review. We appreciate all guest feedback. The bedroom that you stayed in (Number 4) is in good condition (see pictures above). The décor is chosen to reflect the period ambience of the Victorian part of the house - circa 1870 with some original bespoke furnishings. The other part is Georgian circa 1800. Many of the household... More

We stayed four nights here in the late summer. Set just to the east side of Penzance, it is literally only a few hundered meters to access the road network to all the local attractions. In truth one of the biggest, St Michaels Mount, was in perfect view looking out of our window. As already described by others this is... More

We had been looking for somewhere to spend a short 3 night break in Cornwall, and whilst surfing the internet, we came upon the Mount Royal Hotel in Penzance. What a stroke of luck, because we couldnt have asked for more. The hotel were happy to take our booking over the telephone, and we were able to select the room... More

We stayed three nights in this beautiful old Victorian house which is situated in a great position 5 minutes walk from town and harbour. Our room was lovely with a fantastic view of the harbour out of the window. The room was so pretty with really beautiful furniture and a really comfy bed. The dining room for breakfast was absolutely... More

In agreement with the other reviewers, I don't know why there are so few reviews for this place - it really deserves a higher ranking among the Penzance hotels. Our single criticism is that the decor is a bit retro (think flowery curtains, wallpaper, bedspreads...). On all other things they cannot be faulted. I think the family who runs it... More

We fully endorse the previous review. The breakfast is served in a room that a Victorian mayor built in about 1860 (I guess) to reflect his new civic status and the original furniture is still there including a massive dining table, an exotic mahogany fireplace and a matching sideboard to die for, which is so large was built in the... This small B&B hotel was a gem. Traditional in style, very convenient for the railway station and the town centre - literally 2 minutes walk to the station and 5 to the centre of Penzance and very welcoming. The breakfasts were a total delight - served in elegant surroundings and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Good home-cooked... More
