Arrived to check into a single room. Third floor, fifty plus stairs and no lift. Energy saving light bulbs mean the room is always just gloomy. Bar manager was quite rude when our party asked about drinks for residents after the official bar closing time. No interest in looking after the residents at all. Vey poor. As a result none... More

When we saw the reception we thought we were in a really low budget hotel. I was therefore surprised to see a beautiful lobby and a traditional but nicely decorated room. The staff was very friendly as well and the food delicious. The cook himself brought it to us and we had a nice chat and the bartender mixed our... More

We called in to the Nelson Bar for drinks one evening while on holiday. Small choice of real ale, beautifully kept. On seeing the evening menu we returned the next night, seven in all. The quality of the food was excellent (I had pan fried trout with new potatoes and a nice crisp salad), everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, and... More

Just back from a one night stay at the Union Hotel in Penzance, and we were completely smitten by the place and the staff, especially Howie. From the front the place is very low-key, but behind the rather plain facade and slightly scruffy lobby is a gorgeous old hotel which is full of character and steeped in history (not least... More

My partner and I went for a long weekend break to the Union Hotel. What a fantastic weekend we had. All the staff were so attentive, rooms were really clean, food was really good. Try the fish dishes. Locally caught. We fully intend to visit again soon

We needed a cheap, one night stay as we had tickets for the Minack Theatre close by. We got what we payed for; the room was rather tired and there was a musty smell in the air as we entered our corridor. The beds were clean but the kettle had to be boiled on the floor as this was the... More

I think you could either love it or hate it. It is quirky and full of character and a few bodge jobs here and there. It is not a travel lodge. Room with a sea view at the top a lovely room would recommend. As for all the moaners - it is only £70.00 a night, really good value. Go... More

Stayed here for 3 nights and all I can say is it doesnt say anywhere on the website there are no showers in room's and no lift ....the room we had was at the top of the hotel and as a 60 year old lady climbing up 57 steps daily as you can imagine was quite tough. The hotel is... More
