When we arrived, we walked into the reception area, where they had drum & bass music blaring away. Was very hard to hear what the receptionist was saying! He took a very long time to check us in. Our room wasn't clean! The carpet hadn't been hoovered, there was mould on the curtains & cobwebs everywhere! The TV was ancient... More

Stayed for two nights with 7 others on my nephews stag weekend, ages ranged from 23 to 63. There is a £30-00 per person insurance charge payable on arrival and entrance is through The Victoria Hotel. This is an old fashion hotel which has seen better days but looks grand and has a fair bit to offer. However we pass... More

We booked a double room for a night stay. The price was cheap so we weren't expecting much but we were disappointed. Upon arrival we were asked to pay a £30 damages deposit per person (cash only - be aware!) which wasn't made clear upon booking. All we had in the room was a rickety double bed and nothing else.... We were there for a 2 night stag do. When we got there the receptionist was friendly, but told us that there's a £30 deposit. Not £30 per room, but per person! That's what we were paying each night to stay there anyway. Seems a bit steep to me, as even if we'd tried, I doubt we could have done... More

I have stayed in plenty of hostels in various countries and have never been asked to provide a cash deposit in case of damage to the room. The fact we had to pay this deposit had not been communicated to us advance and thus was an inconvenience. The room was so sparsely decorated that you would be hard pressed to... More

this place is very poorly maintained and is depressing. floors and walls have not been cleaned properly in ages. there was one small towel for the four of us. we were requested to pay a deposit which was not mentioned online when booking. considering the conditions, the place is overpriced.

We booked for two nights for a Stag Do. The room cost £29 per person per night and was worth it for the room and the location we were in. We paid our £30 bond each on arrival and were told that if anything wasn't up to scratch when we entered the room all we needed to do was go... More

When we arrived, we were each told we needed to pay a £30 cash deposit. This was not mentioned on booking. But we obliged and payed. When we came to collect our deposit it was £10 short. The money was either counted in wrongly or stolen by the hotel. The whole place has a stench of sick/disinfectant. As if a... More

Stayed with the other half for a couple of nights in August 2014 as it was the only place in Newquay that had a room available at short notice. I have stayed in basic accommodation before but this place takes the word basic to a whole new level. How they have the nerve to ask for a £30 deposit per... More

Booked a 4 person room for one night on Boardmasters weekend. Read some of the reviews beforehand and felt a little concerned that we had maybe made a terrible decision! Yes, you do have to pay a 30 pp deposit upon arrival, but to be honest we knew that we weren't going to trash the room and so knew that... More
