My wife and I stopped here from 28 nov to 1 dec as a birthday treat .we were greeted by friendly service at reception and we're lucky enough to get a sea view room.as I had read on reviews the rooms may need a little updating but they were very clean which to me is more important.tea and coffee supplies... this place is stuck in a time warp but it kinda works well. As we got a very good deal for our room rate, we didn't really have high expectations! However, the rooms wee clean, comfortable and warm and the staff were friendly. Yes the decor is reminiscent of the 1980s and the entertainment in the bar somewhat off beat... More

We've stayed at this hotel twice and both times it was a pleasure. The hotel is well situated in Newquay and overlooking the sea at Narrowcliff. We could not fault the cleanliness of the hotel in general and our room. The hotel was lovely and warm. The staff were friendly and courteous and they seemed happy working together. The place... I stayed here for two nights during the month of November 2014. Mostly i found the hotel perfect for my needs. The only thing about the bedroom which i would say is the grouting in the shower needs restoring and also the whole shower cubicle would be in need of replacing. the decor might have been slightly old style but... I stayed at this hotel for 4 rather chilly days in November & found the hotel very cosy & the staff exceptional. They couldn't have done more to make our stay more comfortable. Agreed the hotel is in in need of a little T.L.C but heaven preserve us from the boring, corporate style of so many others! We found the... More

Having read previous reviews am wondering if there are two Cliffdene Hotels at 12 - 14 Narrowcliff! We certainly did not find the servings small then perhaps we are normal eaters! As to the hotel being in need of updating, for the price we paid I would not have expected any more. The food was excellent, well cooked and hot.... More

3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2014

Stayed here for 4 nights in mid September with a National Holidays coach party. Staff are friendly. Rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. Breakfast was OK but evening meals were disappointing and portions tended to be quite small. I was told that the hotel is closing down in the near future for a complete overhaul. It needs it. It... We stayed at the Cliffdene for 5 days in September, we found it had a very friendly atmosphere, which was immediately obvious when arriving at reception, and it soon became apparent that this standard of friendly service applied to all the staff and was 5 star. The food was well presented and above average, and restaurant service was highly efficient... More
