We stayed in a self catering cottage set within the grounds of the Headland Hotel. The cottage was beautiful - well planned and equipped and we were able to make use of the hotel's amenities - swimming pools and sauna. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Even our teenage daughters were impressed! more

It's so sad when people remember your wedding day for the evening buffet which for over a thousand pounds, was no more than a few platters of sandwiches, and a couple of paper oyster shells with a few prawns in one, and some very tastless chicken in the other. Most of the guests who are all local people, were to... more

Have been visiting for the last 15 years and the hotel has consistently improved although we loved it in its original incarn ation. It used to be a comfortable 3* family hotel and has now upgraded to a four star. The service is excellent and during my last visit my daughter was very ill - the hotel went above and... more

We stayed at the Headland for 2 nights with our teenage kids in June 2009. The kids stayed in a budget room which really was very small and disappointing compared to the pictures on the hotel website. We stayed in a Headland classic room which was ok but frankly nothing special. Both rooms were a bit tired and in our... more

Hubbie and I (mid-thirties) have just returned from 6 nights at one of the Headland cottages, attached to the hotel. We were in Huers 8, which is a 2 storey apartment with the bedroom on the ground floor and an open plan living / kitchen area upstairs. There is a sea view over the roofs of the other cottages from... more

Was going away for my 30th to do something different. My husband had to work all week so a friend and I went to Cornwall to learn to surf, something I always wanted to do. Read all the reviews of hotels in and around Newquay and looked at the Headland, The Watergate bay Hotel and Bedruthan steps. Choose Headland and... more

We went to the Headland for a romantic break and were very happy with our choice. Traditional comfort and style, excellent service and beautiful views. A lovely place to relax, and a good base for exploring this beautiful part of England. more

We stayed recently at the Headland Hotel which is based literally on Fistral beach (surfer's paradise in the UK). The standard of accommodation was first class, as was the food and attitude of the staff. It's usually possible to tell the difference between a chain and owner-managed hotel but this was truly superb. They even accept well behaved dogs which... more

We went to the Headland twice in May and although we didn't stay there we went specifically to have afternoon tea. We'd thoroughly recommend anyone wishing to have a relaxed and sumptuous traditional afternoon tea to go. It's very relaxed, very affordable and the service every time we have been has been excellent. The food is also of course absolutely... more
