We stayed for a 3-night surf and explore break in Cornwall. We paid about £70 a night in mid-August (high season) which I think is amazing in 2015 and the main reason for the 4-star grade. Breakfast was quite basic, like my husband said the sausages were really cheap (I had the veggie breakfast and this was fine). It has... More

Four of us stayed at the Avondale over the bank holiday weekend in 2 rooms (#3 and #7). To summarise our stay: Excellent central location. Clean rooms with comfy beds. Free WiFi. Free parking. There's a charming dining room which we had our lovely breakfast in. Elliot is the perfect host and makes you feel very welcome. Overall we all... More

This B&B has seen better days it is very run down however this is reflected in the price - it was very cheap compared to anything else I looked at. The owner was very pleasant and chatty. The breakfast was fine albeit no choice given (it was a full English). Parking around the back was tight but we managed to... More

I went to the Avondale with my boyfriend for our anniversary, just for one night and then we met up with family in padstow. I can safely say I think it deserves more than 3*! When we got there we were greeted very nicely by the man who runs the place who was quite happy to have a chat with... More

We booked at the last minute as we couldn´t find anything else available. I understand why. Apart from it´s first-class location it has nothing else really going for it. We stayed 6 nights. The bed linen was not changed, the towels were after we asked and the small shower was very mouldy. The place needs a major refurb as a... More

Does exactly what it said on the tin. Comfortable room and a great breakfast. Definitely better than camping at Boardmasters. Very near to the Boardmasters pick up point for the shuttle bus. See you next year.

The owner is very accommodating & his breakfast was nice. The room seemed under serviced but the bedding was clean. The shower needed some attention, neither myself or my friend used it because of that. There is a big difference between antique and old. This place is treading a fine line. However its a very short walk from the Newquay... More

We very much enjoyed our stay. Elliot is an excellent cook and was very nice to talk to. He also provides lots of useful information (restaurants, places to see etc.). The rooms are furnished with beautiful antiques - very romantic.

This place is absolutely terrible. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Cobwebs everywhere. Filthy. Nothing worked. Ripped curtains. On a main road. Haunted. Freaky. Rip off!!!! Should be taken off Tripadvisor website as it should be promoted here.

We booked a last minute two night break to see friends in Cornwall, whilst the owner was very friendly and chatty, the whole building needs care and attention. He told us he only opens June to September so he has eight months to prepare the guest house for the season. The whole place smells of old second hand furniture, very... More
