The owner is very accommodating & his breakfast was nice. The room seemed under serviced but the bedding was clean. The shower needed some attention, neither myself or my friend used it because of that. There is a big difference between antique and old. This place is treading a fine line. However its a very short walk from the Newquay... More

We very much enjoyed our stay. Elliot is an excellent cook and was very nice to talk to. He also provides lots of useful information (restaurants, places to see etc.). The rooms are furnished with beautiful antiques - very romantic.

This place is absolutely terrible. Wouldn't wish it on anyone. Cobwebs everywhere. Filthy. Nothing worked. Ripped curtains. On a main road. Haunted. Freaky. Rip off!!!! Should be taken off Tripadvisor website as it should be promoted here.

We booked a last minute two night break to see friends in Cornwall, whilst the owner was very friendly and chatty, the whole building needs care and attention. He told us he only opens June to September so he has eight months to prepare the guest house for the season. The whole place smells of old second hand furniture, very... More

We stayed here for 1 week early August. We arrived much later than we expected and were greeted by the very friendly owner who helped to carry our suitcase to our room. We stayed in room 3. It was what I expected as I had searched online. The furniture and style of the guest house were very quaint, esp the... More

I recently visited Avondale and was disappointed to find this was a run down establishment in much need of some refurbishment. Whilst the general cleanliness of the room was ok the fixtures and fittings were in need of replacement as was the bed where the mattress was approximately 3 feet off the ground. It looked like a divan had been... More

We stayed here in August. The owner was very helpful and we could use the free off- road parking provided. The property is easy to find but located on a fairly busy road on a steep hill. This means extra traffic noise as there are traffic lights at the end of the road. This means cars have to stop and... More

Stayed here for a long weekend and really liked it. The guest house was full of antiques but very clean and tidy. We stayed in room 8 which was quite small for a double room but adequate. The bathroom was clean and although the shower area could do with refreshing was still in working order. The only 2 problems we... More

Just to say... the pigeons nesting in the eaves of the neighbour's property were indeed quite close to this bedroom's window. I have been asking the neighbour to seal off the hole, and I am pleased to report that he has now done so. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, despite this issue. More

Avondale was perfect for my extended get away to relax and write. I stayed 3 weeks & enjoyed the blustery cliff tops, white stretches of sandy beach of Newquay as well as the nearby towns of Mawgan Porth & St Ives where I went to The Tate and Barbara Hepworth sculpture garden. Cornwall is fantastic for creative inspiration & just... More
