I had booked two months in advance to stay in a cottage with my partner and two children, only to find that when we arrived, Barclay House was closed and had been sold/under new management and being refurbished. No one was on the building for us to check in. I had booked via Expedia.com and spent the best part of... More

Great location for sightseeing and walking into town but on a steep hill so people unsteady on their feet may require a taxi. Lovely food lots of choice at breakfast and friendly attentative staff. Hotel decor a bit outdated but looking at more recent visitors comments this may be something that is being addressed. Perfect for a romantic weekend away!... More

At Barclay house we stayed in the Jacuzzi suite with balcony, the room was spacious with a great view and the bed was so comfy I actually enquired about the mattress! I pre-ordered afternoon tea that was freshly prepared the day of arrival (compliments to the chef). The menu was locally sourced and delicious, breakfast the next morning was cooked to... More

Just wanted to let everyone know that this hotel went into receivership in June of this year, previously owned by the Brooks. They continue to take bookings and do not offer this information when you book, the cottages are also for sale and this can be confirmed with the local estate agents in Looe. They are happy to take bookings... More

We recently rented a Barclay house 1 bedroom cottage for a relaxing evening away. The cottage certainly did not disappoint. Our lovely cottage was set over four floors and was equipped with everything you could need for your stay(dishwasher, freezer, washing machine, even Scrabble). The bathroom was complete with a spa bath and a balcony from the bedroom provided a perfect view of... More

Just stayed for one night during the Looe music festival. The staff are fantastic and the views from our 'garden view' Room over the estuary and gardens were glorious. The decor is a little dated and the bathroom needs attention But the room was comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The Cornish breakfast was fantastic. Will certainly stay... More

Cannot fault our stay at Barclay house for the Looe music festival. Room was great. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice. The staff was very polite and friendly and, made our visit welcoming. The only downside which shouldn't put you off is the short walk to the main road. Which doesn't have much of a pavement and can be... More

Very friendly helpful and attentative staff. Breakfast was really good. The room was a bit dated but clean and had great views (room 4). Have to say though that the walk down to town has a section which is a bit nerve wracking. Two cars can hardly pass each other and then you are expected to walk in the road.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel for 1 night. Although the décor is dated, we found our room to be very comfortable with stunning views over the river. The restaurant was closed on the Sunday evening (although they did have a private party). This was ok because it forced is to have dinner in the town. The only... More
