I have visited the Jolly on a number of occasions and have always been served quickly and courteously. When I am in the area I always make sure I go there on a Tuesday and a Thursday for the Folk Night and the Shanty night (Sing along, they love it). Both nights are free and there is always a good... Friendly from the start, we had room 3 at the top of the pub, 4 poster bed, which was very comfortable, large room, with lots of windows, nice biscuits provided, and chocolate, plenty of tea and coffee, also 2 bottles of water. Large ensuite. Whilst it's a pub, there was never any noise. Cereal , and full English provided. A... More

This pub is a gem for people who like a proper boozer. Great range of ciders and ales and really friendly bar staff. The atmosphere is amazing, given the history of the pub - you can imagine many a tale has been told under those rafters. Some nights there's music on and the pub is buzzing. It was fairly quiet... Our walking tour company(contours) booked us in here, odd choice since we had booked upgraded accommodation. Quaint pub, nice place to visit for a pint. No evening meals served. Our room was very basic but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. A bit noisy from the road outside and people visiting the local shop. Also noise from adjacent... More

We have just come back from two nights at the Jolly Sailor. We stayed in Room 2 which was a good-sized room with an en-suite shower room. The bed was very comfy. Absolutely no complaints about anything in the room - tea, coffee and biscuits - great. Everything very clean. The fact that the radiator could be turned on whenever... More

Wow, what can we say. Only went for one night, ended up staying for two and could have stayed forever! Stuart and Juliet are amazing hosts, really friendly and accommodating and the staff are fantastic. The room was perfect and amazing value. We had the best ever stay. Stopped overnight in the only room available, right at top (10?). A big room ,warm and comfortable with a fourposter; just like being on honeymoon again! A little dated but very clean and it was nice to find bottled water in the room. No food served in evening but a jolly good full english breakfast. Access difficult as building was totally... More

What a treat we stayed for four nights in room 3, what a beautiful room. The breakfast was without a doubt the best I have ever had in a B&B you could select from a range of cereals, yogurts, fresh orange juice, a full English breakfast with as much toast you can eat. I found the staff very friendly with... More
