Good beer, pool table - nice place to be on a November evening. Walked down every evening during our week long stay. Parking looks tight so walking recommended. The pub puts on entertainment and staff and locals are friendly. Dogs welcome, warm and cosy and a good stop after a long walk. Didn't eat but it is somewhere I would... More

We booked our accommodation before we arrived and on the night in question, the tides in the harbour were very high, so much so, that the sea was up on the road and ankle high. The Jolly Sailor inn is literally a few steps away from the harbour and we were worried in case the tide rose more and our... More

Stayed in Looe for a week and this was the closest pub to us. We found it quite unfriendly...especially when we went in for the advertised sea shanty night. The room the singing was taking place in was full so we sat close to the door to the room so we could listen and enjoy only to have the door... More

Spent a week drinking in the Jolly Sailor a couple of years ago. Back in the area, I hoped the place hadn't changed. Much relief, it hasn't. Great beer - well kept (Tribute), a very pleasant bunch of locals and excellent staff. My idea of a damned fine pub.

The Pub is 500 years old in 2016 and is an amazing building. Not sure how old the accommodation section is but the room (#3) was huge, with a lounge area, 2 seater sofa and side board (great for charging technology) large, very comfortable 4 poster bed. The bathroom was also large and kept really clean on a daily basis.... More

Didn`t stay at the Jolly but, called for a drink on way back to hotel. On going to the upstairs gents toilet which was immaculately clean, had a chance to view one of the rooms, looked really good. four poster bed and quite large room. The real ale was 1st class and if time had allowed we would have stayed... More

After a walk from Polperro to Looe this is the first public house we found and saw it advises it is the oldest pub in Looe so thought we would talk a look. When we walked in we felt like we were intruding straight away, the barman was more interested in having a laugh with his locals and sorting them... More

........ to The Not-so Jolly Sailor Visited yesterday but wish we hadn't. Very unfriendly barman, who we clearly put out by daring to want a drink, and who argued about the drinks we'd actually asked for. Equally unfriendly local clientele who made us feel like we'd walked into a party we hadn't been invited to!! Needless to say, we quickly... More
