For £190 for 2 nights, I expected much much better things. There were notices saying refurbishment was ongoing, but even so - my room was very dated with wallpaper peeling, worn carpet & a window that didn't lock. The shower was also fiddly, poor plumbing & faulty taps. The WIFI was almost non-existent, and room telephone also didn't work. Other... More

When visiting the town, we decided with our friends on a next day Sunday “quiz night” to complete our day out. The plan was for a great day out at The Mennaye Field to see “The Pirates”, a quick and gorgeous lasagne at home and then out to the advertised quiz event at the hotel. Now when I say “advertised”,... More

Location of this hotel is stunning with wonderful views of the castle and the sea from the grounds, the bar and from many of the rooms. The hotel hints of former glories and with some tlc has the potential to be exceptional. Initial impressions are good, but closer inspection shows the building and decoration in need of updating and tlc... More

Stayed with a group for 4 nights. Quality of food very good. Quality of service poor but not unfriendly - just badly organised, lacking in any professional training and management. The rooms we're clean but shabby. No hot water in the bathroom!! Communal rooms also scruffy. A great shame because the location is wonderful. The chef is great. The staff... More

We stayed here over the weekend of tall ships, yes the hotel was going to be busy but they should be able to cope with it. Parking was a nightmare, they were issuing permits but never checking these so every body had just parked in the car park which meant guests couldn't park. Disabled bays had become those with a... The wife and me arrived on 29-08-14 and soon got booked in to our reserved two bedroom apartment (no.24)with allocated parking. The price for this was £735 for seven nights which we thought was great value considering it can sleep 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children.Everything worked as it should and we had no complaints or problems with our... Due to an accident blocking the road we arrived a little later than we expected and unfortunately our first impressions weren't great. Having had a 3 hour drive we didn't think a cup of coffee was too much to ask for but apparently the volume of people there to watch the tall ships race precluded civil service from the young...
