Lovely hostel. Cheap and cheerful. The manager was very welcoming and helpful. As far as budget accomodation goes this suited my needs perfectly. The dormitory room was bright and colourful and the ensuite had been fully refurbished. Would recommend to anyone wanting a good place to stop for the night !

I found this backpackers very helpful. It's close proximity to the city centre and rail station very useful. Clean and very friendly I had a very enjoyable stay with residents and staff on my two day stay, and even was invited to a delightful Sunday dinner by the manager, cooked by himself. A true hospitaliy hostel. Thanks again!

We were a large group of girls with a mixture of rooms and the 18 bed dorm. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly and polite manager of the hostel who briefly shown us round the accommodation. It was basic and expected however the exterior was very dirty and negleted. The kitchen and lower landing was so smelly... More

12 of us hired out the sub-par 18bed dorm at this backpackers hostel for two nights for our stag do accommodation. It served its purpose. We were in Chester to party all night and just needed a roof over our heads for when we crashed. The hostel toilet and washing facilities on the basement level weren't overly clean, although the... We were greeted well and but I was defiantly NOT happy and would not stay here again! My top 2 hate's is a cold & dirty room. I got both! I found a USED COMDOM down the side of the mattress just before going to bed so couldn't move. It made me wonder if the sheets had been changed or... More

Danny was relief manager at the time of my stay. He was very understanding and helpful. I stayed in room 1 which was very clean and comfortable. Free wi-fi was an added bonus. Guest livingroom by reception felt really homely too! Would love to stay again!

This hostel was terrible. We had a great time in Chester but left we a sour taste in our mouths after staying at this hostel. Dirty showers, dirty rooms, no breakfast and no atmosphere and a whole lot more that I really can't be bothered to mention. I personally have stayed in many hostel around the country but this is... Chester Backpackers had a proper hostel experience. The main staff member went out of his way to be accommodating and made us feel very welcome. It had a good self service kitchen and the rooms were warm. I would recommend staying at this hostel.

I've done quite a lot of travelling over the past year, around Ireland and the UK, and it's so annoying to see so many hostels turning into tiny 3 star hotels, losing all their character and giving the impression that you're staying in a hospital instead of how hostels used to be. Thankfully I've found a few that hit the... More
