This is classic, affordable no frills accommodation. The facilities were all a little decrepit but at £17 a head we weren't complaining. The hostel is though in a converted pub, which explains its dankness. Cycle storage wasn't great - simply locked up in their yard which seemed a little surprising for the city centre location.

Clean and welcoming. Very friendly staff. Right nextdoor to a huge Waitrose, so no shortage of options for dinner. A better table in the kitchen for eating wouldn't go amiss, but otherwise an excellent stay.

Clean, cosy and an ideal location. Danny was friendly and very helpful. The decor was quirky. We were just a few minutes from the centre. My boyfriend and I stayed for just one night but I would have no hesitation in staying there again.

This is a great place. It is close to everything. A nice walk along the canal to the shops and city. The young man who owns it keeps it clean and tidy. Fully equiped kitchen, clean beds and bathrooms. Highly recommended.

I stayed at Chester Backpackers for a month while I worked nearby, and I cannot say enough good about it, or of Lindsay and Danny, the people who worked there. They went above and beyond in every way for every person who came in, trying to ensure everyone had an enjoyable stay. Whether it was providing directions and suggestions or... More

Considering the low price and great location this was a great place to stay for our night in Chester. Only a few hundred metres from the city walls. The rooms were small but clean and sufficient. The kitchen was likewise little but clean and stocked.

We spend there with my boyfriend in a twin room one month in the first half of the year 2014. The location of the hostel was great, because it was in the centre of Chester – a town of around 77 000 inhabitants – so you could do the entire town’s sightseeing simply on foot. For a lower price (34GBP... More

The staff was really friendly. The rooms were very clean and the hostel was very close to the railwaystation and the city centre. What I really loved was the state of the showers and the kitchen. I will definately come back!
