Lovely warm welcome to a fantastic olde inn. We hadn't read much about the place and only booked the previous day so we didn't know much about ghosts on our first night and had a lovely peaceful night. However the next day the staff gave us some history and ghost stories and we had a lovely peaceful second night. The... More

From walkie talkies ringing in the kitchen at 3am aswell as dragging noises in function room and the kitchen door swinging twice at same... More

We only booked this two days before going for one night in Chester. Booked direct via their website, all very easy, and had contact from owners confirming everything was OK. We arrived a week last Friday a little early, rooms were ready. We had rooms 3 and 4. Both were very nice and very clean. We headed to the bar... More

After a busy day travelling to Chester and wandering around the city centre we happened across this Pub. Perfect end to a busy day. We received the warmest of welcomes, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating, fantastic and quirky original features, lovely smell of a real wood fire and delicious food.

Used to frequent this pub when I lived in Chester many years ago and called in during a recent visit to the city. The pub dates from the 1600's and is very historic. The interior is old oak beams and quite dark but this gives it loads of character. Nicely furnished and on my visit there was a nice log... More

Booked in for a two night stay as a treat for my wife's birthday. We had only been once before but not stayed. We were not disappointed with anything. I had phoned the week before our visit with a request and the staff could not do enough to help. The room we stayed in was small but ideal for our... More

Love going to this wonderful pub in the heart of Chester for the history and sheer presence of this great pub that also i think offers accommodation. On our last vist the pub was packed ,but we managed to get a decent table and enjoyed a very pleasant couple of hour's sampling some of their great range of beer's. The... More
