Stayed for 1 night on my own whilst on business in the area and whilst it was okay, it was not exactly what I was expecting for the price. However, Chester is expensive and this is a fairly lively pub in a historic building, so you must expect some compromises. Good: friendly helpful staff, brilliant location, friendly pub. Less good:... More

Oldy worldly place. However not to the standard we expected for the price paid. Rooms tired and need a substantial refurbishment. Good pub atmosphere but if you want an early night forget it the evening entertainment resonates through the whole building. Excellent staff working in tough conditions.

Booked in for four nights in this lovely period pub. We was in room 4 at the front of the pub, road side. You could hear the traffic but not enough to bother us. We felt the room needed a bin which we passed on to the staff to rectify. You pay extra for breakfast which was very tasty but... More

Just had a brilliant 60th Birthday Party in the Function room at Ye Olde Kings Head. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. From start to finish of the arrangements for the function Jack Deegan bent over backwards to assist in every aspect of the party. Some of the attendees stayed at the hotel at exceptionally... More

Great pub, always very busy. They do great deals on shots. Lager and cider is a little more expensive than the weather spoons directly opposite. Don't let that put you off though. Give it a try, you'll not leave disappointed

Came in for a couple of drinks after a meal elsewhere. Nice looking old pub with character and history. Good selection of ales. Prices average for chester but food prices looked reasonable. From the plates brought out to other diners, you seem to get plenty.

Came here for a 2 night experience of an old inn in chester (an historic city) and was so let down we left the next day! We even booked one of their better rooms and couldnt believe the bed! It squeeked at the slightest touch and when you got on it it felt like you were going to fall through... More

Stayed here during a business stay with my partner and baby. The building is beautiful and when you are staying in a place like Chester it would be sacrilege to stay in a new build. As we had read on previous reviews, that staff are absolutely spot on. All young and vibrant but appear to really care about the place... More

Both me and my wife stayed for one night at the inn two weeks ago. The accommodation is great for the value of money and just what you want for visiting a busy city centre location. The parking and breakfast charges are more than acceptable as is the price of ale and breakfast itself. The pub is supposed to be... More

We stopped here for lunch, myself and my daughter (aged 5). The staff were great and we were served quickly. Good choice for kids, slightly limited on options for vegetarians however but the sandwiches were tasty. Great old fashioned pub with beautiful beams and panelling, child friendly and they have a great ladies toilet! Makes you feel like you are... More
