i stayed in the Grovernor for 2 nights every week for over a year as was working locally and the commute was too much every day. for the money and location, you cant ask for anything more - its a nice wee guest house - Russell and Anne go out of their way to make you feel welcome and accommodate... more
I think it is important that you find - home from home - type locations if you travel on business across the UK. Sometimes the welcome you get, the location and the atmosphere are more important than an overated 5 star listing. This wee stacked on high B&B in the centre of Chester is exactly that. Whilst working in Chester between April and September I had occasion to move accommodation when my usual B & B was full. What a joy it was to stay at Grosvenor Place. Just like home with comfortable beds,good food and a welcoming atmosphere. I have to say it was a good stay. more
Be aware that the owner and his wife do not live on site. We were late arriving due to terrible traffic in the area due to closed main road, so no-one was there. Contacted the landlord to let us in, out walking the dogs, come back in two hours. However the landlady came and kindly let us in after 20min.... more
Stayed here for one night on our way to a major event. Booking in was easy and very friendly. The rooms were old and tired but clean. I had booked the hotel in 2007 (Oct) it was now Feb 2008. When the bill was presented we were charged 2008 rates, and a supplement for a single being in a double.... more
