Stayed one night, room was pretty dirty, never seen so much dust on top of a wardrobe in my life......its a busy place with a busy bar. staff very helpful and pleasant but the room was pretty shabby. I know its Chester and it might be good value, but the rooms do need more cleaning attention. Its a good 15... More

Our room was very small and in need of refurb - dated but clean. The room would do what it says on the tin if you are happy that you would not be going to bed before 1am. The bar (although very nice) was full of very loud locals until around 12.30am both inside and outside in the beer garden,... More

Good clean hotel, very friendly and helpful staff Adequate breakfast and plenty of choice Other meals good value. Some rooms may need a bit of t.l.c. but the refurbished ones are top class and others are being done as I write

We have just stayed here & came back one day early although not necessarily all to do with the accommodation but it didn't help. The bedroom we stayed in badly needed decorated & just lacked that personal touch, the carpets look like they have been down for years & lights for no shade, although the room did have a fridge,... We stayed for one night (sat) and had a room for 3 people. The cost was £85 including breakfast . The room had everything we needed and the breakfast was fine. It's about a 15 minute walk into Chester and it has a bar. The staff were extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. What more do you need??

Stayed here in December for a weekend in Chester after seeing great reviews on Tripadvisor. I'm not sure if we got a bad room but I would not recommend staying here. On arrival (walking through a busy bar), we were told our room had been swapped and were now in the one next to reception. The room was cold, the... More

Popular with the locals I think, so very very very noisy at night. This is a Friday night and other nights may be better. Room is average, decor of room is poor as no attention to detail. Bathroom excellently decorated in contrast. Good size tv though no BBC channels, so have they not paid the tv licence? Breakfast still to... More

This hotel is a lovely place to stay for visiting Chester. It is the second time we have stayed and i have no hesitation in recommending it. The bus stops regularly opposite hotel. We were there over easter weekend so walked into Chester (about 15 mins) The breakfast is plentiful + is served in the pleasant bar area which is... More

Just had two nights at The Bawn Lodge were we have stayed before. Hotel is situated close to Chester centre (within walking distance). Staff very friendly, full English breakfast freshly cooked to order, rooms have fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryer and TV. Hotel also has a private car park. Great value for money and great service.

Returned to Bawn Lodge for a second overnight stay in the past few months. Perfect location, welcoming and friendly staff, great cooked breakfast and bar food menu (the salmon and sauteed potatoes is highly recommended!) and lively bar area. Perhaps could do with a lick of paint in the bedrooms but overall a really enjoyable stay and I wouldn't hesitate... More
