Beautiful traditional hotel. Warm friendly reception from the hosts Adrian & Fiona who could not do enough to help make our stay & visit to Chester most enjoyable. The rooms are all clean & have all the amenities expected today whilst maintaining the traditional style of the hotel. Wifi is one of the best I have experienced at a hotel... More

Great nights stay in a traditional styled room. The location was perfect, a short walk along the Wall into town, with plenty of parking at the back . The breakfast was great and the owners had great knowledge of the area for points of interest in Chester town.

Stayed here for two nights while visiting my daughter. The Recorder is well placed right on the wall near the river. It's very quaint with loads of original features. We stayed on the top floor at the back, the room as quite small but very comfortable. The breakfast is excellent and set us up for the day! Owners are very... More

Visited in December on a cold, wet couple of days. Very quaint and comfortable. Close to the city centre with all its attractions, history, restraunts, shops etc. a good base for touring the area as very accessible by car. I can't add anything to the previous reviews which has'nt already been said. Excellent.

We stayed at the Recorder House this past week, had a fantastic time! The room was clean, warm and spacious for our needs. The breakfast was great and the two owners were very helpful and friendly. The hotel is situated on the City Wall and is a only a 10 minute walk into the centre of Chester and with free... More

This is an old classic building, originally from the late 1700's and its new owners, Adrian and Fiona have done an awesome job in continuing to maintain its authenticity. In writing a review of a wonderful ancient building like this, you have to have a completely different attitude than reviewing the 'straight lined modern hotel'. I found the service impeccable,... Ideal location for a break in Chester, situated on the city walls, overlooking the River Dee. Friendly hosts, comfortable clean rooms, free easy access WIFI and a lovely home cooked breakfast. The car parking was definitely a bonus and made for a stress free break!

Stayed October 24th Friday to Monday. Great place to stay, fantastic location right in the centre of Chester, free parking, but quiet at night! Best breakfast you could have, freshly cooked. Owners couldn't be more helpful. The room we stayed in had plenty of space, but did have a bed that was a little too firm for us. Would definitely return.

Stayed for just one night in one of the twin rooms not over-looking the river. Beautiful room, nicely decorated with lovely soft linen and cosy beds. The breakfast was delicious -even the black and white pudding! Very attentive and friendly staff. It was like staying with a friend of the family. Perfect location for exploring Chester.
