This was our first trip to Chester and we wanted to stay in a hotel that had character and the Recorder House was certainly the right choice. My husband & I stayed in the Virgo room which is simply beautiful and overlooks the river. It is ideally situated to explore Chester only a couple of minutes walk to the shops... More

My wife and I recently stayed for the weekend at the Chester Recorder House for our 26th Wedding Anniversary. The room was lovely, clean and spacious and overlooked the river. It is situated close to all of the attractions, restaurants, bars and shops. The owners Adrian and Fiona were lovely friendly people who were very welcoming. The breakfast was really... More

It took a while to find the place (best to get directions beforehand, as it's not a simple city to drive around) - but we were made very welcome and what a fantastic location...with parking. The room was very comfortable - a fantastic bed - and the breakfast wonderful. I would only warn you to be aware of the rather... More

We spent 2 nights at the Recorder first time in chester so we weren't sure what to expect . On arrival we were greeted very warmly by the proprietors Adrian and Fiona , Adrian quickly allocated a very convenient parking space near the hotel . Adrian carried our bags to our rooms which was very helpful as we took far... More

What a great location for a delightful B&B. After our GPS device delivered us to a place 30 plus feet below the front door of Chester Recorder House but we eventually located the car park and were told by a cab driver in his opinion it is probably the most difficult place in Chester to find. Do your homework before... More

Have visited the Recorder many times over the past 8 years and have never been disappointed. This characterful hotel boasts comfort, cleanliness and charm and excellently located within the city walls close to all amenities. Hubby and I stayed last week in the Virgo room overlooking the river and were warmly welcomed by new owners Fiona and Adrian. On hand... More

Spent 2 nights here whilst on a trip to Chester. Booked a river view room with an imposing tester bed. Room and hotel full of character. The hosts were charming and nothing seemed too much trouble. Arrived at 12.30pm and still able to check-in and put the bags in the room. Breakfast was lovely. The location of the hotel suits... More

We were on a very last night of a tour of Scotland and the North of England and had arrived slightly early which was no bother. Found the car park which was a must and were shown to our room. Whilst we did want a river view but booked a bit late "Sagitarius" was as charming as the picture was... More

Stayed for two nights in two double rooms for a weekend with girls at the races. The hotel is in a great spot within easy walking distance of everything. Owners had only been in the job for 8 weeks but did an excellent job of making us feel welcome, explained the car parking arrangements and recommended restaurants for the evening.... More

Stayed here for 1 night and it is a lovely b&b, it's full of charm and character, the breakfast was really nice, would maybe suggest a little background music as felt a little awkward when no one is talking. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, we turned up early and it was not problem with them, by the time... More
