We have stayed at the Recorder many times over the past seven years and have never been disappointed. All the rooms we have stayed in (most of them!) are very comfortable and we particularly like the rooms at the front overlooking the river . It is a fantastic but quiet location and the free parking is an added bonus. Breakfasts... More

On arrival we were upgraded by the owners which was a really lovely gesture and we were shown into the Libra bedroom which is on the first floor at the front of the house, with... More

Disastrous start to this overnight stay as when I phoned for directions from the city centre was told there was no record of my booking; I was then kept waiting in the wind and rain while she went to check (battery running low!) she confirmed there was no booking, I said I had the confirmation email in my hand, she... This small hotel is set right on the ancient Chester walls and enjoys a truly stunning outlook over the river which is directly below. The location is quiet as well as attractive and just on the perimeter of the city with easy access to the centre and railway and bus stations. There is a pretty little garden and car park... More

Very comfortable and attractive old house in a prime position, overlooking Chester's city walls and the River Dee, within easy walking distance of all the city's attractions. Private parking a bonus. Very pleasant and helpful proprietors, excellent cooked breakfasts. We enjoyed every minute of our 4-day stay. Highly recommended. More

For Jim and Pat and all who work in this hotel 'nothing is too much trouble', Their helpful attitude and attention to guests needs made a good weekend away a very real pleasure. I stayed for 2 nights in early September, being joined on the second night by my friend who flew in from America before we embarked on a tour of Wales. My friend arrived early in the morning and the owners Pat and Jim couldn't have been more helpful. They offered coffee and toast while they finished getting my friends room... More
