Called in for lunch prior to the annual visit to Chester races and yet again good food with excellent service. Have been coming for years and never dissapoints. Thank you to the friendly bar maid who gave us an enthusiastic tour of the pubs memorabilia. Did not try the guest beer called 'I did not know it tastes like piss... More

Spent a couple of nights in the Albion on a recent visit to Chester and really enjoyed both the feel of the pub and the landlords sense of humour ! Walls are covered in great memorabilia that honour the memories of people long gone and make for interesting reading. Good home cooked food and will certainly return

Interesting pub, lots of war based memorabilia. As others have said the Landlord has a sense of humour. Basic English food menu shepherds pie etc. We just met for a drink a couple of reasonable ales on and Carling.

Located just off the wall in the centre of Chester, we spotted this pub when on a walk. Intrigued by the signs, we popped in for a quick drink. This is obviously a popular local-style pub, ideal for both the local residents and for visitors. Quirky humour is obvious throughout, along with a wonderful collection of memorabilia from through the... More

Wonderful welcome from a young lady with a huge smile. Real fire giving a most cosy atmosphere. Delicious luncheon - locally sourced ingredients, very well cooked. Generous portions. Super flavours. Incredible atmosphere, World War 1 memorabilia adorning the walls A "MUST" Historical Location.

We saw this when walking the wall. Fascinating historical setting with the streets of terraced houses near by. So different and such a throw back inside to what pubs used to be like. Staff very friendly to us, Great real ale and food was so different and excellent for lunch time. really enjoyed our session there. The only irony coming... More

My wife and I discovered this wonder pub as we walked around the walls of Chester. It looked so inviting, and we are so pleased we made the effort to investigate. What an experience, a real pub in the old sense of the word. we had a light lunch with wonderful beer, and will certainly return to stay in there... More

The Albion is an institution! Nestled away in a quiet corner, best found by approaching on foot on the walls. Not for everyone - literally! Children are discouraged, as are rowdy parties. This is a quiet, characterful slice of history. Rooms full of WW1 and WW2 memorabilia make for great talking points. Good beer selections, favouring local breweries. The food... More

We love to go to this great little traditional pub whenever we are in this area. Chester has a varied and eclectic mix of wonderful pub's,but this is in my opinion one of the best. We were here recently and popped in for a nice real ale,the pub was busy but not packed, just a nice crowd. We settled on a... More
