Me and a friend stayed at the Pied Bull on a recomendation from a family member because its very close to where they live. Location wise you really cant get much better, slap bang in the middle of things, perfect. But the hotel needs a bit of money spending on it, which is probably why the place is so cheap... more

We first stayed in this hotel when it was part of a chain and that was approximately 10 years ago. It was a really nice hotel then but now it is in dire need of a refurb. It could be a great hotel because it is so handy for the shops etc. Would be willing to pay more if it... more

Oh dear, what can I say, potentially full of the charms of an olde worlde establishment but ruined by bed bugs and noisy slamming doors all morning long. We arrived lateish the night before (8.15 pm) and were told, in no uncertain terms, that a late night cap for residents was not available after 11.00 pm. We were also told... more

We love the ambiance of the Inn. They stock guest ales and keep them well. Accommodation is clean and very good value. Staff are hospitable and welcoming and of course you have the shops on the doorstep. We have stayed there several times and have booked two more trips this coming year. (Haven't seen the resident spirit yet!!) more

We'd seen reviews here & the Rough Guide which has a positive write up. First impressions were good - reception welcoming, room clean with good quality furniture & none of the negatives posted here. A big plus in the room was a teapot - much better than the complementary teabag in a cup! So far so good, but then you... more

We have stayed in this about five times now. It's well located for all city based attractions, right near town hall and cathedral. The rooms are basic but clean and we have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. more
