Visited for a few days break and stayed at The Pied Bull within the city walls. The place was built 400 years ago and it's location is great for the town area. The staff were very friendly, the food was really nice and well presented, the beer which is brewed on the premises is really great, they have a good... More

We were really pleased with the location of this historic pub in Chester. The staff were helpful and friendly and the ale was good too !! Not a choice if you have mobility problems as the stairs are very steep but we had no problem climbing to the top of the building Would recommend for anyone wanting a break right... More

They said on booking.com that they have parking, but when we arrive we discovery that we did not have and we have to park in a super market and pay for it. So, consider that when comparing prices. The location is excellent, but everything else was reasonable.

our room was freezing and central heating didn't work. This must be ongoing problem as extra radiator in room. Clean room and bathroom - lovely soft towels. The staff were very friendly. No duvet just a sheet and throw - luckily there was a blanket each in wardrobe. Breakfast was good. Evening meals were disappointing but to be fair reasonably... More

Luckily we were only booked in for one night, as the room was quite frankly horrible. Top floor, woodchip on the ceiling, cheap and nasty carpet on the floor, magnolia walls, 1980s light shades that were hanging way too low, no duvet just a throwover on the bed. The pubitself is okay, no better or worse than most of the... More

We stopped at the Pied Bull for two nights, Wednesday and Thursday. We were expecting a historic feel to the place given its history. This was not the case. The standard rooms are very, very basic. The furniture fits into this description looking both cheap and very 'tired. The staff are very pleasant and the breakfast good. The location for... More

A trio of ladies from 52 to 84 in age had a lovely stay here for two nights . Staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly, couldn't do enough to ensure everything was as good as it could possibly be. A quirky place with a rich history. Food was delicious, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend. Thanks so... More

I stayed here last weekend with a friend and we were very happy, It is a lovely old building, very quirky, but watch out for the stairs, all very uneven and quite difficult to climb. Our twin room was very spacious. No hairdryer, but we only had to ask at reception and they delivered one to the room. The pub... More
