Great location, good rooms for a weekend's break. The girl on reception was amazingly grumpy when checking in but the bar staff and maids were all really good. Would go back if I wanted a room to explore the city for a weekend. more

Located near the racecourse, was very quiet when we stayed which was not on a race meeting day which I would say is very noisy! Very good location for city sightseeing. Free large car park. Very modern , basic & clean. Breakfast was better than expected, which was continental style. Would stay again. more

This isn't my first stay at Express by HI (30 nights a year at least), but first and last time in Chester, I'd rather pay DOUBLE and stay at the HI Crowne Plaza in future! Impressed on arrival to find a free car park and the attendant had a list of hotel guests and we were therefore expected. Whilst there was not a lot of spare capacity we managed to find a parking space. Reception staff polite and helpful. We stayed here as my Partner was on Business nearby. It was a nice modern, clean hotel with friendly staff. Rooms were equipped with the usual tea/coffee facilities, shower gels and bath robe. Location was good for visiting Chester and it was easy to find as it is right on the Racecourse, our room looked over the turf. more
