I've returned 2 days ago from a stay in Chester at the Belgrave. A beautiful city with loads of character and places to see. We arrived at the Belgrave to be greeted by very friendly staff. It was clear that the hotel was very antiquated with only the most basic comforts. Bedroom was ok but crampt, Bathroom very old fashioned,... more

Having read previous reviews of the Belgrave I must say that I was slightly trepedatious about staying there. Having just returned from the beautiful city of chester i must say that my opinion has completely changed. The Belgrave is best described as a 'functional' hotel but what more would you expect for the money paid?? The staff we very friendly... more

We didnt have much choice the night we came to The Belgrave. On the outside it looked like a pretty good palce to stay, but it was grotty and the management was very poor. We had numerous different problems. more

After reading the reviews about this hotel we were dreading staying there, but it was only for one night. We arrived at 5pm before our evening meal, the hotel looks inviting from the outside, and only a 10-minute walk in to the centre of Chester. We were greeted by a very pleasant reception, bar and lounge area and staff. Our... more

We booked this hotel last minute on the advise of an agency - big mistake! The staff were polite and the buffet breakfast fairly good, but the whole place was shabby, depressing, noisy and unwelcoming. The bedroom was, to say the least, uninviting. It was scruffy, uncomfortable and unclean. The TV didn't have a proper aerial so was unwatchable, there were holes... more

I emailed Chester Tourist Information and they helpfully sent me a magazine with loads of information about Chester including a listing of a number of hotels, b&b's, guest houses etc. Belgrave Hotel was tempting as it was listed as a short walk from the city centre, reasonably priced at £55 for the room per night and suggested it was a... more
