Just left this hotel after staying one night. I'll start with the good points.. The rooms are spotlessly clean so kudos to the cleaners! The room included breakfast, beds are very comfortable and finally there was plenty of parking. Now for the negatives. They placed me and my 2 yr old on the first floor right next to the stairs... I have just checked out of here this morning and can say that for the £35 I paid for my room I am happy. I originally booked a single room as an advanced booking on the website and was give a choice of three discount codes - I chose the free breakfast. To get these codes all you had to... More

After reading some of the reviews of this hotel I was a bit apprehensive about staying here. Have to say we found all staff there to be very polite and pleasant - approachable and friendly, offering very helpful advice. The room was basic (and agree with the very cold comments - however it IS early March and it doesn't seem... More

This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at.... whether you pay £10.00 or £100 for the night it is no better that a doss house. Think of the 1970's CrossRoads Hotel, bed's uncomfortable, hear every sound from upstairs, no towels in the room, breakfast was not tempting or well cooked with service by uninterested staff. No value... More

I have stayed at this hotel once before. This time we were upstairs and although the rooms are slightly dated, it was clean and warm. Hot shower, clean beds. What more can you ask for??? Bar prices- cheap! Breakfast- not that appetising, but ok. All other reviewers that slate this hotel but book this place for £54 for two people... More

This was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We changed our room twice in a two night stay. The heating was haphazard to say the least, the rooms were freezing cold, but radiator on in the middle of the night! Water trickling out of the hot tap was cold. The breakfast was cold, the bacon was like a... More

I have stayed at this hotel before and had no complaints. My story. I made a booking for this hotel direct with the Dene for 3 nights on the 18/11/13 all went well. Come the 07/12/13 2 of our party were taken ill and could not make the trip for 09/12/13 so I made a telephone call to the Hotel... More

The Dene has a great location for exploring Chester - but that's the only plus. No heating, wall paper peeling off the wall, a shower with the power of a ninety year old with prostate trouble, and the worst sausages I've tasted in my life. How does this place have any stars? My advice is stay in a nice b&b... More

Stayed numerous times, first time had the breakfast very poor. Wasn't told what breakfast consisted of so assumed a fairly standard one for the price. First bit was acceptable at best, cheap juice, cheap cereals & toast. Then it was a cold offering of scrambled eggs, baked beans, hash browns, and the cheapest sausages known to man. I like the...
