I am a gold card member at Macdonalds hotels and this has been at least my 3rd visit to Craxton Wood. Speaks for itself really, very well maintained grounds, lovely location (out in the sticks, yet conveniently located for Cheshire Oaks!) By the way, no direct bus to the Oaks now unless you wish to travel at 8am so need... more

we stayed at this hotel over the May bank holiday. The hotel was busy with people staying inc some families. Its set in a very peaceful location in the middle of a large wood just off the main road. Cant hear any traffic noise, just the birds and wildlife in the surrounding woods and gardens, which are well amintained. The... more

This hotel had an excellent location and had a pleasant atmosphere. The lady on the bar was very pleasant and gave us plenty ideas of where to go the next day. The hotel is in close proximity to Cheshire Oaks the local designer outlet, this is well worth a visit and has many nice restaurants to go to including Prezzo,... more

We booked this hotel to celebrate our daughters 21st Birthday, using Tesco Deals. We booked 1 twin and 1 double room. The rooms were clean. The pool facilities were good, The location of the hotel for Chester was excellent. We incurred problems at both breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday mornings. The cooked food was buffet style and the trays were... more

We've stayed at the Craxton Wood on a number of occasions and this was definitely our most disappointing visit. We booked an Executive room as we were visiting as a family of 4 but our eldest daughter (Age 8) was on a sofa bed we had to assemble each night and our youngest (Age 2) was in a small travel... more

Graham and Angie Huddersfield Arrived early, had coffee by pool then room ready early. Champagne and chocs waitig for us, great idea. Valentines dinner lovely, room comfortable and quiet, slept like logs, leisure facilities fantastic, but no wet bags or shampoo in ladies changing room. Breakfasts included and good value for money, maybe a little extra butter is needed. Overall... more

My mother-in-law and I booked this hotel for one night as a base for our shopping weekend to Chester and Cheshire Oaks (location wise, it's good). I joined the MacDonald Hotels web months ago and have been inundated with special offers (ever week) since, so decided to give them a go (we usually stay in De Vere hotels). We checked... more

Held back on this one as an ex school friend block booked for a reunion but....I have stayed there before for a wedding and it was ok, roll on seven years and nothing had been revamped or maintained. The place was rundown, smelled everywhere of damp and whilst my room was huge the tiles in the double basin bathroom were... more

This was what I would call a lovely country hotel. The room was a good size, and overlooked the lawns, which was nice, and had good toiletries, was very clean, and tea coffee etc. However, the double bed was the hardest bed I have ever slept on. Its was like rocks. I asked the maid for an extra duvet to... more
