I've stopped at this hotel a few more times this year, and it just keeps delivering! New manager Steve and his wife Timar and their young team have rejuvenated the place; the warmth of welcome couldn't be better, the rooms are still clean and comfortable, the service impeccable, and the food excellent and plentiful. Again, nothing was too much trouble... More

We booked the Harbour Lights Hotel for 9 nights. Seven nights were booked in the upstairs suite and the remaining two night were in the family room number 2, due to availability. The first breath I feel when you arrive in Alderney is that you are no longer involved in the "rat race" of life, take a deep breath, relax... More

We recently returned from our third stay at Harbour Lights Hotel. We enjoyed all our stays there - the food was excellent, the staff were friendly and obliging and our room was fine. Alderney is a beautiful and interesting island and the islanders are very friendly and helpful. The hotel is ideally situated between St Anne and the harbour, both... More

Myself and 7 mates stayed at the Harbour Lights Hotel while on a fishing holiday, Steve (the manager) and his wife (chef) could not have been more helpful, we asked for an earlier breakfast than published so we could get on to our boat and go fishing, no problem was the reply and what would you like? We chose the... More

One of the few hotels on the island, it seemed a bit tired - we noted that it is up for sale. It is located midway between the town of St Anne (wow – what a steep climb up to it) and the beach. Our room was small, - there was no room to put the one fold-up chair provided... More

Thank you for your review, I shall pass on your feedback to the housekeeper. There is a path to town which is not at all steep as it meanders through the woods behind the hotel and brings you out close to town and conveniently next to a public garden with seating, if needed! Our residents lounge has never been closed... More

Overall 'OK' and pleasant experience. The hotel looks a little boring/bland (is up for sale). Dining room is very noisy. Rooms were OK, Dinner and breakfast was OK. Staff was friendly. Wifi works but was not really fast. This hotel deserves an enthusiastic new owner.

Thank you for your review. The original hotel was built in 1857 but 7 years ago it was getting tired so we took the decision to knock it down and rebuild it using the same footprint so it looks as it did in 1857. The Bistro can be noisy at times such is its popularity but if you prefer to... More

The hotel was in an excellent situation - near to the town centre (lovely walk up hill) and near to the harbour (lovely walk down hill). Breakfast was absolutely delicious and piping hot and freshly cooked. Loved the terraced garden and enjoyed drinks in the sun. Only criticism - no water in the room, no biscuits (perhaps a good thing!),... More

Thank you for your review. I can confirm that the water supply in Alderney is rainwater collected in a quarry which is filtered and absolutely safe to drink. None of the rooms have phones as everyone seems to have a mobile these days but we can put a phone in your room if you need one or there is one... More

We're told that Alderney wants to market itself to attract tourists. Well, it's going to have to be more attractive if this 'hotel' was much to go by. We had some bad experiences, though others in our party had better rooms. We are told the hotel is for sale, which explains a lot of the indifference to our needs. We... More

Firstly let me say that the leader of your group booked our Eagle suite in the knowledge that it is on the second floor and comprises of two bedrooms that share a bathroom with each other so it is a shame that you choose to blame the hotel. I had not heard that you had problems moving a chair but... More

Located down the hill, far from St Anna, close to the harbour, the hotel is a good place to stay overnight. Clean but small room with great bathroom. Poor breakfast and quite good dinner. Warm welcome from the staff, friendly atmosphere at night but noisy when you sleep above the bar (very heavy wooden chairs). Cosy place to be for... More

Thank you for your review. I would say that for the able bodied the town is just a ten minute walk away or two minutes in a taxi so not far at all. We tend to put lone travelers in the smaller rooms when we are very busy but each of these 'smaller' rooms has a double bed, wardrobe, plenty... More

We stayed as a family of four in August for a few days and had rooms 13 & 14 which form a self contained suite on the second floor. This was great accommodation, nicely furnished with simple pine furniture and very comfortable beds. We also enjoyed the sea and lighthouse views from the rooms. The location is great, close to...
