I recently took my elderly mother here for an impromptu lunch, and we were both very impressed with both the quality of the food and the friendly accommodating service. My mother has a very small appetite, and it was no trouble for the cook to prepare a smaller portion so as not to put her off. The date and bacon... More

This is a restaurant with rooms. They serve delicious top quality food. The manager Nico is very kind and friendly. The rooms are clean and the bed very comfortable. Excellent location next to the amazing and interesting Bedford Ditch. Saves the pub from floods! Cambridge and Ely nearby. Excellent for a mini break!

more a restaurant with rooms.nice big comfy bed, functional en suite.food and bar prices are a little on the steep side(about £7-8 starters and £16-20 for mains).breakfast was excellent, lasted us all day.service was good, friendly attentive staff.a bit less "style over substance"on the menu and some good wholesome grub would have been preferred.

We went here on a Tuesday lunchtime, and it wasn't that busy. Lovely cosy and warm atmosphere inside. Very polite staff. Lovely food. Relatively limited menu, but enough variations that even our relatively fussy group could find a number of choices. No complaints though, this was a weekday lunchtime. Some reviewers have complained about slow service. In my opinion, the... More

My husband and I spent 2 nights at the Anchor Inn on the recommendations of reviews that said it was a cosy inn with a log fire, just what we wanted to cheer up a January mini break. Imagine our disappointment when we found the fire was almost out when we arrived in the late afternoon and was well and... More

We stayed at the Anchor from Friday to Sunday in January and it was was one of the best short breaks we have had. They stress it is not a hotel and although there is someone on call all the time, it only really functions during the pub restaurant opening times. It is basically a restaurant with rooms and not... Booked in on 11th January 2014, shown to our table of 4 at 8.15pm, the restaurant was busy but I did notice some empty tables so it was not full to maximum capacity. 8.30pm still no food or drinks order taken. 8.45pm I left the table and asked for someone to take our orders, and a waitress was sent to... At the very last minute a group of four of us decided to stay over at this Inn. On arrival it felt warm and cosy and we enjoyed a drink in the bar. Our room consisted of a small lounge, bathroom and then further along our bedroom. We changed for dinner and came down to a lovely reception where we... More

We booked a room with Late Rooms and stayed in the Riverside Suite which had the advantage of a separate sitting room (with a comfortable settee which converted to a single bed if needed). The location of the pub is great, and we could bird watch from the little window in the sitting room. We opted for breakfast in the... More

As per your previous reviewer we have been on and off visitors here for over twenty years (remember the gas lights - lovely but a tad hot in summer!?) but more recently off rather than on due to a bad experience a few years ago. However, encouraged by other friends who had made favourable noises about this place, we gave... More
