I came on to look at this hotel before we stayed a couple of weeks ago, this was the first time I have done so, and after reading the reviews I was very nervous about our stay. We were pleasantly surprised however,,,,, yes the hall carpets are very stained, and yes, the breakfast is very basic, but I have to... More

It's just not a 4 star hotel - it's a 2 star hotel; what the AA were doing when they awarded 4 stars, goodness only knows. Its faults include: the room smelled musty; poor mattress (you can feel the springs); no bedside tables/lights (you have to get out of bed to switch the lights off); no stand-up showers (you have... I found myself having to go to Cambridge at short notice... Cambridge was in its pomp for May Week and the majority of reasonably priced rooms in Cambridge had been snapped up. I widened my net and found Willingham House that had a room available with ensuite and continental breakfast. I also enjoyed a tasty supper in their Chinese Restaurant.... More

Most definitely not 4 star, and overpriced for what it is. Our room was alright and relatively clean but there were signs of neglect all around. It could be a fab place in a fantastic setting. The reception was cold and lacked hospitality. We had a continental breakfast on our first morning because the waitress forgot to tell us that... More

Willingham House looks lovely on their website - however, the stay is far from lovely! We didn't get the room we booked, and the room we got instead wasn't ready - we arrieved at 8 pm! While we discussed with reception, an other couple was there - they were French - and didn't get they booked room either. After they... More

I booked this relatively late and was looking forward to staying in an English Country House, as it looks quite nice from the web-site photos. The reality was that the carpets were filthy, wallpaper peeling off the walls, toilets that didn't flush properly, a disgusting smell from the bathroom plumbing and a shower that, at best, produced a dribble of... Booked through booking.com. Lovely old bishop's house that has been added on. The decor and facilities are a bit shabby, sort of like an old Agatha Christie movie. The Chinese owners are very friendly and we had a discussion about their problems getting credit to update the place, which they are very eager to do. Staff went out of their... More

This hotel is in terrible condition. Dead flower boxes, stained carpets, bird poo on the smashed windows, broken plastic shower head and ring marks on wooden furniture. The website shows a beautiful Victorian hotel and it is certainly a lovely building but the proprietors haven't looked after the interior at all. It's a glorified chinese restaurant with rooms left to... More

Booked the day before arrival. Upon arrival were told the only available room was for the disabled. That was fine but found the bed to be most uncomfortable. The tiny sink in the bathroom had no plug and the door to the room got stuck making it difficult to open. The TV made a very high pitched tone after being... More

The house itself looks lovely frm outside, this is very deceiving although I believe the owners have a very reputable Chinese restuarant/takeaway in the local village. The room was above reception, the staff (receptionist upon arrival) were very polite, this was a convenient location fr us as we were attending a local wedding. The decoration was appalling, wallpaper hanging off... More
