I arrived at the Guesthouse at about 1 p.m.. If you arrive in Cambridge by Heathrow Express, it takes you about half an hour to get there, by train only 5-10 minutes. By then I was given two sets of keys, one for the room and one for the entrance door to the house. The reception room was also the breakfast... More

Tony is a very kind host. We arrived early in the morning, but he managed to give us our room, without keeping us waiting too long. Room was perfectly clean and large. The breakfast (the english breakfast above all) is delicious and Guava juice was a surprise, beyond the usual juices. Perfect position, at a walking distance to the city... More

In Cambridge for a one-night break, my friend and I were looking for somewhere well-priced, friendly and near the station. Railway Lodge ticked all those boxes. This is a traditional and unpretentious B&B whose basic style reflects its prices. But, assuming you didn't mistake the place for a boutique hotel, you should have a satisfying stay because it's run by... More

The rooms (well, room 2) is basic, clean and perfectly adequate. If you are expecting a modern fully equipped city hotel, you'll be disappointed on the other hand, if you are looking for a good Bed and Breakfast, this is the place for you. Mine Host, Andrew was very helpful with parking and getting about and didn't complain when I... More

We stayed here on Saturday 13th, after our family wedding, I have stayed before a couple of years ago, and was straight on to Mr King about staying again, the room was spacious downstairs , like a family room, with a spare bed and looked like a log cabin, it's a fairly quiet street and close to the train station

My family spent 1 night here. It was not planned there. But the stay is warm and good. We used to stay in business hotels. For Cambridge, we just would like to pick up a family lodge. Room is clean. Hosts are very very kind. Introduced in details of everything. And we feel we are at home. The beds are... More

I went with two my customers in Cambridge for a weekend. They were looking for something not too expensive and close to the city centre. Perfect! The host has been very kind, the place was clean and comfortable and my customers told me that also the breakfast was very good.

I found this B&B consistent with the reviews I read - nothing flashy, but a good value in expensive Cambridge. The room was small, with the en suite obviously added as an afterthought, so it created an awkward layout, and the decor was what I would call serviceable. However, you can't beat the location if you're traveling by train, and... More

We thank the reviewer for this objective feedback. Railway Lodge was first built as a residential, terrace house in late Victorian times. It was converted into a small, commercial guest house in the late 20th century, when many original features of the property's structure were retained. While accepting that it's not 'state of the art' in conceptual design & decor,... More

Have stayed here on a more long term basis whilst working in Cambridge each week. Working away from home so often is not always a pleasant experience, as very much at the whim of different B&Bs/hotels, however, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Railway Lodge. It is close to the station so a short walk from town (or if you’re... More

Really good location near the train station, 15 minutes walk to the Cambridge city center/university. A perfect choice if visiting Cambridge by train. Stayed there for one night, asked for a twin room, got a room with 1 double plus 1 single bed including wardrobe on the first floor (which is good since no need to drag the luagge to... More
