We were so lucky to find the railway lodge and greeted by Anthony and his humour and warmth which added to a lovely weekend had in a quaint traditional style guest house with good facilities and parking with a 20min walk from Cambridge city centre and two minutes from the main train station. Perfect. Great value for money and very... More

Paid £75 for a huge room, there were just two of us but could easily have slept 4 comfortably. Very friendly service, great breakfast with a wide choice, good location for jumping off the train dropping off the bags and a quick cab into the City centre, although you could walk in about 20 mins. Would stay again.

I chose to stay at this B & B mostly because of it's location to the train station, which is only 5 minutes walk away. I contacted the owner by email and received a professional & prompt response. I paid £65 for my one night stay and upon arrival was greeted by a friendly lady and shown to my room... More

I am always hesitant with bnb's, never really knowing what surpise lurks behind those doors...and in this case, I was pleaseantly surprised. The railway lodge has a very calm atmosphere. If you are looking for a place to have a quiet evening in your room, this is it ! The owner is very nice and gave me lots of speciality... More

We are pleased that this guest had a relaxing, comfortable stay and that she got a sense of 'added value'. Sorry that any glitch with the key (in the lock) was the cause of some angst, however minimal. We're keeping some WD-40 handy just in case the problem reoccurs. More

Besides from the cheery breakfast service, the experience at Railway was dismal. I thought the room was dingy and smelly, the shower was gross with a clingy cloth shower curtain that failed to keep the rest of the bathroom dry, The worst part was knowing that we paid the same price that we had paid for many other stays throughout... In responding professionally to any feedback, it's always helpful to establish the circumstances of a particular visit. This review was posted by guests almost three months after their stated disappointing one-night stay but we have tried to read it objectively, in its full context. All rooms are serviced daily and inspected by the housekeeper prior to occupancy. Guests are at... More

I enjoyed my first stay at the Railway Lodge in October 2013, and came back with my husband & daughter this October. We travel on a budget and are delighted when we find comfortable, quiet places to stay, and this is that kind of place. Our room for three was large (for Cambridge), very clean, and had a decent shower.... More

We thank this guest for her encouraging comments. Return business such as this is very important in the trade and the loyalty of such customers is very much appreciated. More

I arrived at the Guesthouse at about 1 p.m.. If you arrive in Cambridge by Heathrow Express, it takes you about half an hour to get there, by train only 5-10 minutes. By then I was given two sets of keys, one for the room and one for the entrance door to the house. The reception room was also the breakfast... More

Tony is a very kind host. We arrived early in the morning, but he managed to give us our room, without keeping us waiting too long. Room was perfectly clean and large. The breakfast (the english breakfast above all) is delicious and Guava juice was a surprise, beyond the usual juices. Perfect position, at a walking distance to the city... More

In Cambridge for a one-night break, my friend and I were looking for somewhere well-priced, friendly and near the station. Railway Lodge ticked all those boxes. This is a traditional and unpretentious B&B whose basic style reflects its prices. But, assuming you didn't mistake the place for a boutique hotel, you should have a satisfying stay because it's run by... More

The rooms (well, room 2) is basic, clean and perfectly adequate. If you are expecting a modern fully equipped city hotel, you'll be disappointed on the other hand, if you are looking for a good Bed and Breakfast, this is the place for you. Mine Host, Andrew was very helpful with parking and getting about and didn't complain when I... More
