The only reason we stayed here was because we were relocated here, after being told that our 4-poster bedroom at the Brooklands Guest House and been double-booked. Exactly the same thing happened to another couple in Ashtrees that night - what a coincidence. What was supposed to be a Valentines surprise for myself and my girlfriend was certainly that -... more

Very nice on the phone; coming late and told me they’d leave the key under the mat after 9pm. No probs getting in. (thank you other reviewers who had said this was a problem, so I knew to call as soon as I found that I was going to be late!) Somewhat dumpy and run down (threadbare carpet that could... more

This was a last minute choice as we were running out of options. Some earlier reviews were not great but others suggested it was seeming to turn a corner. The positives: owner is so helpful, friendly and just "nice" Location is fine Bus stops opposite to/from town £1.70 e/w or get a £3 day ticket and save The less positive: room... more

I think the management must have changed. The lady who dealt with us was English, friendly, helpful and communicative. We had an upstairs room which overlooked the carpark at the back, which was snug and warm. The cooked breakfast was hot and tasty, and we were not made to feel as if they wanted us to move out quickly. The... more

The hotel has a Wii- Fii , central heating and T.V!! We found it very good and whithin our budget! So, I don't know about all the other reviews... more

Welcome as warm as a blizzard, just like visiting the inlaws!! Vegetarian breakfast consisted of not what you would think i.s eggs on toast etc., but museli or cornflakes? hardly speak English and don't really care either. And about 2.5 miles from city centre and not 0.5 miles as advertised. Get the bus's one day travel card. more

Awful location on noisy roundabout in run-down area. Joy riders burning rubber outside at night! Window of ground-floor room would not close properly let alone lock - free access to burglars and intruders. Manageress completely disinterested and unsympathetic. Noisy due to road and other guests. Room had inadequate curtains, so not dark enough to sleep. Owners unfriendly. Avoid it, its... more

The guesthouse was easy to find, had parking and a cooked breakfast. the customer service was very poor and we felt very unwelcome until we heard the same rudeness being used on all visitors. The showers could hardly be used as they became scalding hot when anyone in the building used the loo or cold tap. The loo had no... more

Hmmmm, let's see: The staff don't speak English, my room was double booked, they tried to charge me extra to find a replacement room - with no bathroom. My credit card was overcharged - twice, the manageress refuses to refund the overcharging, the guest house is of a generally poor standard within. Avoid if at all possible. more
