I really can't fault this. We got a good deal from the hotel's website & were very pleasantly surprised by the quality for the price - far better than I was expecting! We had to wait for a couple of minutes for the receptionist to arrive from the Arundel but she was lovely, very helpful & efficient. We had booked... more

The door was answered within 15 secs (with a smile of welcome) and registration was attended to quickly, efficiently and pleasantly. My room was the best I have ever seen in a British hotel - the bathroom very well appointed and in excellent condition as was the main room with its positively sumptuous bed. Again the breakfast was probably the... more

An older building with some character but a little tired in places but genarally ok. Large car park to rear in tidy garden. Initial access on arrival is unusual but we had no problems & I believe its possible to book in at the sister hotel - The Arundel which has a permanently manned reception. The double room was adequate... more

We stayed here for a night to visit family. We checked in a the sister hotel, the Arundel. Provided you are prepared, this was not a problem and our room was ready earlier than advertised. We had a quiet room facing the car park. and it was clean, if a little tired in the bathroom. The location is excellent, and... more

We stayed here for one night for £75 b & b. Whilst I can see what some of the negative reviewers were referring to I believe this hotel provides good value for a short break. As a tourist you don't really need anything more than a comfortable, clean and secure room for the night. We weren't planning to spend a... more

The decor could do with some modernisation - the rooms are basic but spacious. The hotel is in a nice old house but it is quite cold and soulless. All the management seems to come from Arudel House and there was no staff there when we arrived at 3pm, which felt quite unwelcoming. On the up side, there is parking... more

Never again. Arrived to a locked door with a sign to press the intercom bell. No answer after waiting for 15 mins. Returned after an hour with the same situation. When about to leave the chambermaid (I think) opened the door to tell us that the reception opens at certain times and that check in should be done at a... more

We booked this hotel because the reviews were some of the best we'd ever seen. All I can say is that some people must be easily pleased! When we checked in we were given room 3 on the ground floor, we literally put our luggage in the room, (a quick look showed it to be a small double nicely furnished... more

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights while we attended a conference. Yes, we arrived mid afternoon to find no one there. The intercom only works if there is someone there to answer it!! Our tiny room was on the top floor and despite opening windows it was very hot and stuffy. The room was dated...pink worn carpet,... more

The whole situation with Ashely hotel and its bigger sister the Arundel needs to be sorted out. We had booked direct via the Arundel so had been informed about where to pick up the key. But its still confusing about how to actually get into the Ashley - agree with previous reviwer nobody answered the intercom. I felt a bit... more
