Not top of the range but quiet (at the back of the house). Three houses knocked together. It would be a lovely if they got some people in to do it up few licks of paint and sorted out the shabby bits - but I guess that's why it's cheap but so is premier inn and Travelodge! Not impressed. Staff... More

People need to expect that if they're paying a few dozen quid for a place to stay then they shouldn't expect the Ritz. However, if you're living in the real world and want somewhere to stay in Cambridge which won't cost the earth, is comfortable, has friendly staff and a decent breakfast then you could hardly do better than Hamilton... First time in Cambridge with 2 other friends and did not have enough time to search for places. We were only looking for a place to shower/sleep as most of the time we spent walking around. The Lodge is simple and we booked a room for 3 with suite. The room was clean and spacious. They also offered parking and... More

When I first booked this B&B it had average to good reviews on this site so I booked with confidence. I was looking for somewhere reasonably priced but clean and tidy and HL seemed to fit the bill. I had to postpone my booking from August to October and by the time October came round the reviews had definiately gone... More

Just a basic welcome. We have been allocated in room n° 1 just next to the entrance. We could hear everyone coming in and going out mainly "thanks" to the early birds and the large gaps all around the door frame. No proper double glazed windows so it was very noisy too because of the traffic. The bathroom was filthy,... More

I booked a single room for one night with separate toilet and shower. It was only £30 and I decided to add the breakfast for £5 extra. The room was small but functional. It was a bit tired decor wise but everything worked fine and the bed linen was clean. The shower and toilet were not far away and both... More

We booked through booking.com and were presented with the professional photos that can be seen on trip advisor as well. Based on this and other gleaming reviews we had read we booked straight away for two nights only to arrive and be told we had only booked for one despite our confirmation stating two. Net curtains were brown instead of... More

The Hamilton Lodge was bigger than I had expected and run like a hotel, not a guest house as I had expected. Although not in the centre of Cambridge, the city centre is within easy reach of the hotel. I was able to cycle along the river Cam to the centre in under 10 minutes. My single room was on... More

Stayed there last July and it fulfilled its role: it provided me with a good night sleep. Other than that, it’s a quite average place. It’s one of those places that you neither recommend nor tell people not go there. Then again, this is the UK we’re talking about. Budget travel isn’t synonymous with quality over there. I must say...
