Booked this Guest House for 3 nights for my husband as I had to have an operation at Adenbrooks and would be in for a week. During my operation there were complications and my husband was beside himself with worry and didn't want to leave my side. He called the Guest House only to be told by the Landlady that she had just got out the shower and to call back. He called back to explain the situation and cancelled the booking for all 3 nights. He said that he understood that He would not get a refund for that night but hoped to get one for the following 2 nights. She said she would look into it. The next day he called again and she was extremely rude and uncooperative and would not give a refund. Fortunately I pulled through and after a while in hospital was able to go home. I was upset that the Landlady showed no compassion towards our situation and so we sent her an email explaining the situation in full and asked if she would look into a refund. We are still waiting on a response 3 weeks later. We have since found out that she is always rude and unfriendly and quite a few who have stayed were unhappy with their visit. I highly recommend that you DO NOT stay there.

Second room had working shower but unfinished decoration and bear pipe work . One socket working which had a extension lead under bed and across floor to power TV and kettle.PAT testing out of date.no carpets on floors in room. Bannister on top walk way loose and is cut into 2 bits . Cobwebs in dining area . Unclean untidy and some things just dangerous. Picture at top of this page not this guest house for sure.

Although we did not stay in the room much it was very out dated and the cold tap in the room was pretty much falling off! For £68 for the night, there are a lot better alternatives for a cheaper price in the area. The only good point was the location.

I'll give them this: clean sheets. Otherwise... horrible. I don't know how they took their official pictures, but my reality is this: - the mould smell hits you from the entrance; - the door to our room wouldn't stay closed unless locked with the key; - a large spider right over the bed; - the sink is outside the bathroom, right next to the bed; - I could barely get into the bathroom as the door was hiting the bed; - all the noises you can imagine, from the entrance door, to squeaky stairs, floor and bed; - paint coming off the walls; - at midnight a fight brooke between two other guests and lasted for almost an hour on and off without any intervention from the hosts; - breakfast consisted of toast, butter, jam and coffee. So, everything they tell you is a lie... The rooms are extremely small and crowded with furniture, the smell is unbearable and "breakfast" is barely there. No way a night here is worth £70.

We booked the room with a four-poster bed, in this house converted to a guest house. Overall, for the price and location, the stay was acceptable. POSITIVES: - Homely and cozy - hostess runs it herself, and there's a nice personal touch to the place. - Not far from train station - about a 10 minute walk. - Amenities nearby include ATM, a convenience store, a café and a take-away. - Hot water available in shower. Towels provided. - Free wi-fi offered. NEGATIVES: - On arrival, the hostess asked us to go straight to the room as she was dealing with other clients. Although she came up later to check everything was ok, we were a bit surprised by the lack of a check-in process. - Rooms are on the smaller side. Good if you have few bags and belongings. - No bar of soap in the bathroom - if that had been mentioned when booking, I'd have remembered to buy some soap beforehand! - Shower is hand-held, and you have to sit down in the triangular bathtub to take a shower. But it works! - Room was a bit dusty, but we did not have any health problems due to this. - Street noise (especially ambulances) was a problem for my partner at night, made worse by having to keep the window open due to the hot weather.

If the breakfast went til ten o clock we would have given it a five rating. You are surrounded by a host of eclectic bric a brick from the owners mirror surrounds, Van Gogh and topics of misery and uplifting . The beds are cozy and our room had most things except a fridge which wouldn't have fitted any way as we needed to put some furniture in the closet to open our cases but had the choice. Heating, cooling adequate. Heavily booked l gather as Cambridge is often busy and expensive. They are really trying to get it right and l would reccomend.

Maybe I am too easily pleased but I can't understand how people find this place terrible. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was decorated in a strange but quaintly quirky way but everything did what it was supposed to. Bed was very comfortable, shower worked perfectly as did the TV and WiFi and there was loads of storage space even if the wardrobe was on the small side. If cooked breakfast had been included in the price, which I thought it was but was actually £5 extra, I would have given it 5 out of 5.

I'm a bit confused about this place. Everything is so small, so you don't really want to spend too much time here. The first day there was some strange smell in the room and it was extremely hot, but this is because of the not-so-English weather :) The bed is comfortable, however, it fills all the room :) The wifi is great, however, you don't have a place to put your laptop and work :) The breakfast is fine, but the greatest thing about it is the cutlery :) The lady running the house is nice and friendly. You can see a lot of interesting pictures on the walls, so it is worth to walk a bit in this little dollhouse :)

The price was attractive; However, the service was very poor, I arrived at 6:00pm and the room was not ready although I booked over the phone, 1h before. While the room was being prepared, I was offered to have a coffee and to wait in the breakfast area; I started to work and catch up on email.. Shortly after the room was ready, I was asked by the staff to go asap to my room as the space was required for her work and need to have private phone conversation! In the morning, they were OK with me to check out at 11:00am instead of 10:00am. Overall, good price but very poor service and bad manners from the staff; I really would not recommend it. Regards, Manu.

What can I say, the bed had clean sheets, the staff were very pleasant, but the DIY botched up poor excuse of a shower, with black moldy curtain, and decor really let the place down, and if you were a larger person, heaven help you, will not book again unless they can prove it has changed.
