room small, bit basic and not cheap but think that is because Cambridge is not cheap for accomodation generally. spotlessly clean. comfortable hotel, very good food and lovely friendly staff who are very helpful

There is a nice hotel here, trying to get out of a slough of gloomy staff and poor cleaning, poor breakfast service and general genteel decay. There was a thin triangle of grey dust in the ensuite toilet, emphasised by the red and tattered carpet; clearly the cleaning staff need new crevices tools for the vacuum or glasses, or better... Being well positioned close to the city centre and overlooking the River Cam does not make up for poor service, a bland breakfast and an uneven mattress. I paid £130 for this B and B in order to attend a friend's wedding at Selwyn College. The only blot on what was otherwise a terrific weekend, was this hotel. The short... More

If you enjoy eating breakfast while waiting 15 minuets to be seated this is the hotel for you. The head waitress badmouths the other staff as she walks by and has a smile that could freeze hell. If the staff stuck to doing one thing well rather than trying to run everything then it might work, sadly they are yet... More

I've just returned from a two night stay with friends. On finding an entrance we were immediately greeted by a flight of stairs to climb to reach reception. Checking in was efficient and the greeting friendly. The receptionist took the time to explain the card entry system which was a new one to us. After climbing various short flights of... More

Rooms at front of Hotel too hot or too noisy if you open the window. Beds are comfortable but bathroom is just a cupboard and need serious updating. Reception on arrival of our party was frustrating, taking too long. Breakfast was good but dinner was rather ordinary. Staff all very helpful.

The hotel is next to the river and Jesus Green. Quayside and the punts are just a short walk with a little further to the town centre. There are no lifts in the hotel and the stairs are quite steep . The hotel was very clean and comfortable but needs to be updated. It has the feeling of the 80s.... More

Old fashioned charm is the first impression. Updating required is the subsequent impression and re-training for some of the rather casual staff. Cramped reception area up steep stairs from the car park which is the actual main entrance, not the one onto the road. The hotel was too hot and has no air-conditioning or fans in the bedrooms - or... More

The hotel is very dated and does not have a lift- we certainly would not have chosen to stay here had we known that. Our room was on the third floor and coming from the car park that means having to contend with 4 very steep flights of stairs. Being 8 months pregnant with a very bad back and travelling... More

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband and adult son on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is in a good location as it overlooks the river and is within easy walking distance of the city centre. The hotel has its own spacious free car park which is always useful when staying in a city hotel. The rooms... More
