After trying three places we finally had to take this as it was late on Saturday afternoon. If your looking for 3+ stars keep looking. It's tidy but dated. Our double bed was worn out Luckily the single bed was ok for my wife. I can sleep on anything. The breakfast room was musty as ventilation in old buildings can... More

B.B. staff was really nice but they definitely need a cleaning staff because everything had mold and the towels had a really strong moldy smell. I would recommend it only for one night. The room is quite small and the bathroom even smaller.

We were on business in Cambridge and stayed at Amber Lodge for 12 nights in July. It is well-appointed, clean and cozy. Mary, the landlady, is very friendly and helpful. Our room (Nr. 5) overlooked an internal patio so we were able to sleep with the windows open without being disturbed by the street's noise. The room was of an... More

I found this B And B tired! The decor is dated, the room I occupied had a small ensuite, very small. Bed was comfy, and Linen clean and fresh. The plumbing whistles, and disturbs your sleep. TV, kettle, clock radio, etc NO Hairdryer. The outside appearance of the property reflects the interior, dull and in need of some refurbishment. Breakfast was... More

My husband and I stayed at Amber Lodge for one night as we were spending a weekend in Cambridge for a friend's wedding. We had a good night's rest, a good breakfast, and would recommend this B&B. See below for specific points. Good points: 1) On-site parking: Considering how difficult it is to find parking in and around Cambridge, it's... More

I paid £36 for a single room at Amber Lodge for a Saturday night. Found this to be very good value for money. My room was a typical single bedroom, with plasma, sink, tea and coffee facilities, and an en-suite toilet (shower was in the bathroom which was shared with a couple of other rooms). The landlady was very friendly,... More

Having travelled for some hours we were weary and just wanted to rest. We had to wait ages for the door to be opened and were a bit put off to hear a small child and see a dog...we were asked how we were going to pay before we'd even seen our room, and I was a bit surprised to... More

The bed sheets were stained on both beds, the cabinet was covered in dust. The breakfast consisted of 1 sausage(quorn), 1 bacon, half a tom, 2 mushrooms a spoonful of beans and a rubbery egg. The table cloth at breakfast was also stained. And the dog then came begging for scraps. Having paid nearly 70 pound for this room I... More

Mary is lovely, and so is her little doggy and the B'fast assistance. Nice cooked breakfast and flexible service. The rooms are really guesthouse-level, and we found them a bit overpriced for the size and the location (30 mins walk from the edge of the town centre, though with good city bus link). Beds/matresses are a bit too antique, and... More

We stayed 6 days at Amber Lodge and enjoyed our stay very much! The location (busses going frequently to the center) is excellent, the room very nice and quiet. You can choose your favourite breakfast and the time you want to have it! The breakfast is very nice and well-cooked! Mary is very kind, helpful and available for all kinds... More
