Where can I start to praise the magnificent Centennial hotel? Well, let's start with the name. Never has a hotel been more appropriately named and with such foresight. Who could have known a hundred years ago that the decoration would actually last 100 years? Well congratulations to the owners who obviously did. Some may call it tired, jaded, depressing and... This is a convenient location if you are on business in Cambridge. It is really comprised of a few old terraced houses that have been interconnected. My bedroom was quite small, fitted with basic furniture. It was however clean and reasonably quiet, considering the proximity of a busy street outside. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful, regardless of the... More

We have stayed at the Centennial several times now, it is convenient for the 'Junction', and the car park is a bonus. Sadly it is beginning to show it's age, the furniture is old fashioned and although the rooms seem to have been decorated recently there were cobwebs on the ceiling of our room. The radiator seemed to be set... More

I read reviews that you should book a room away from the main road to avoid noise. I did and it was pretty quiet even with the window open. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Asked at reception for a glass of wine and even though the bar was closed they got me one. It did cost the price... More

My daughter and I stayed here for one night on a visit to Cambridge. It is a delightful quaint family run hotel. It has none of the impersonal features of the chain hotels and plenty of individual character. You get real key for your bedroom, the room was small but perfectly adequate. The food in the restaurant was superb and... More

The hotel was ideally placed for access to the centre of Cambridge. It is about one mile (1.6kms) and took us about 20 minutes to walk. All was well as the weather was fine. The hotel was different from the beautiful picture on the web page. It is a row of houses which appear to have been bought to extend... More

We stayed at The Centennial as it was as near as we could get accommodation to the Cambridge Folk Festival. It was still too far to walk. The hotel was fine, with extremely helpful people on reception and the dining/bar staff were also very pleasant. The full English breakfast was as good as any and served promptly with a smile,... The Centennial has had an exterior makeover which looks good. Room was clean and well serviced...although the little bottle of shampoo had been used. It's a long time since I have had to use a real key for a bedroom door. Typical interior with narrow passages and landings. The 'bar' was a cupboard behind reception but had a malt. Breakfast... Valuable FREE parking. Very, very comfy beds & pillows. Fair size room with tea making facilities & hairdryer. Room was at back of hotel so no noise issue from any roads. Radiators had knobs on to turn off if too hot. Fair full english breaky. Two minute walk to railway station/bus stops for free shuttle bus to Duxford! Quite long... More
