Lantern House is disgusting. The stairs are dirty and worn carpet. All surfaces covered in dust. We, a party of four, were assured that we had exclusive use of a bathroom. Two other rooms shared the amenity. That meant 8 people shared this mold ridden shoddy room. The toilet Brush was a health risk. The landlord seems blind to the... More

Terrible stay. Horrible rooms, far too small, lights didn't work, inch-thick dust under the bed, shared bathroom had a very badly maintained shower, visible wiring, I could go on. Shouting and screaming in the next room was not the fault of the owner but certainly was the 'cherry on top' of a general theme - utterly abysmal. Incidentally we saw... More

Since I like to be fair I will start with the: pluses: clean bed and nice fluffy towels. Minuses: Breakfast - what breakfast !!!! No breakfast provided BUT there is a snack bar 500 metres down the street or a SPAR across the road with unappetizing bread. Service - what service ! manager unfriendly, uncooperative and largely absent.

Stayed a few times in the top floor room. The room is fine with a sink, a TV, internet, drawers and hangers. The slanted wall from being under the roof takes some getting used to. The bathroom is nothing special but clean as well, and there is a shared iron on one of the floors. The main drawback is that... More

This is a budget place to stay about 20 minutes walk to the old town. The room was small but clean with a very small shower cubicle that had the usual touchy shower controls. The stool for the desk was so rickety that I daren't sit on it (I am rather large!).. When we arrived we were put off by... More

Actually not really that cheap, overall feeling of neglect, kettle dirty, had to wash cups before using, water pressure abysmal, staff not really suited to running a guest house, nothing was quite right, ran out of toilet paper, no spare and no staff to be found, only one bedside lamp, bed lumpy, they did let us leave the car for... The rooms are like most European B&Bs: quite small, but comfortable and clean. The room has a hot tea maker, and there was a jar of ginger snaps to welcome us. However, the owners, unlike the cookies, will likely not be there to welcome you. We needed a cab early in the morning and our cell phones would not work... More

A very clean little guest house on the outskirts of the city centre. Easy to get to by bus (citi2). No breakfast option or facilities to make your own. Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided. Staff were helpful on arrival and welcome pack suggests places to eat. Bike hire available

The staff we met were very friendly and helpful. They did all we asked, even let us check-in early and leave a little later than official time. Overall a good basic place to stay near to the centre and all attractions. Cheaper than others in this location because no breakfast. That was not a problem as there were places to... More

I did not find Lantern House a welcoming place to stay. It was clean, but shabby-looking, and the owner was rather off-hand. The overall impression was that he couldn't really be bothered. My little attic room was quite nice, but lit by a skylight that could only be operated by standing on the bed. The digital clock hadn't been set,... More

First of all, thank you for your review. Of course after 4 months or more things get remembered in different ways- as far as we recall you came to have breakfast quite late, about 09.30 AM after our breakfast service had finished (it was from 07.30-09.00. AM) while we were just going out to take our young daughter to nursery.... More
