We have been travelling for 30 days stayed at around 15 venues throughout England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland and this venue was the very worst of all the places we have been. It was the same price per room as many of the other places we stayed, so there is no excuse for such poor quality. Many old venues we... More

We stayed for one night as part of a package trip - very reasonably priced. On arrival we were checked in very quickly especially as we were a coach load of 48 people. Our room was clean, tidy and reasonably well maintained and had a lovely view of the gardens. All the heating was on and the room was so... More

Booked two rooms for two nights at this hotel. Hadn't checked trip advisor at it was a de vere and I've never had a bad experience with them (regret that now) We travelled for 4 hours to arrive at a hotel that looked more like a hostel, after a big walk with suitcases and two children under five, up a... All we can say is OH MY GOD The room we stayed in was dirty and stunk of damp and after taking the pictures we booked out and went home as they would not move us. Maybe because the other rooms are worse. Please have a look at the pictures we took of our room they explain it all.

I have stayed here twice, July and September/Oct. Before we booked we read some of the other views on here and the best advise on here is those who explain what you get for your money. The rates, bar and food costs are not typically high hotels prices, they are more comparable to "cheap" hotels and your average pub prices.... More

Uplands is not perfect BUT let's remember what the price is. I paid £52 per night, including a full English breakfast, for a hotel in the beautiful English countryside, just a few miles from Heathrow airport. So I'm not going to expect luxury!! The hotel room was a bit dated and tired and the decor left something to be desired.... More

The grounds are well maintained and attractive. The hotel looks good from the outside and the reception area is good too. We were in the lodge which to be honest is a bit tired and could do with updating but it was warm and clean. The bathroom had certainly seen better days and we did have some problem with the... More

Booking in was OK. Went to room which was accessed off Butlins type walkway. The room was dirty, all walls and ceiling with marks and some scratches and dents. Carpet had been repaired badly with a patch which was threading.Carpet was also badly stained. All and I mean all paintwork scratched badly. All silicon around bath which was once white... More

We thought we'd found ourselves a real bargain at £55 a night but no, one of the worst hotels I've stayed in! The picture on booking.com was very sneaky, yes there is a lovely old house but all of the bedrooms are located various cell blocks next to the lovely old house. The walls were so thin I could hear... More
