3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed recently for 3 nights. Rooms are tired, small, I.e no wardrobe for clothes, but bedding was clean, good size tv, and excellent free wifi. Reception is smart, nice bar area, albeit pricey, free tea and coffee available. We were on bed, breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast good selection of hot cold and food decent quality product. Evening meal again... More

We stayed in this hotel just for one night at the beginning of August. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding and white fluffy towels but the rest of the room was very poor. It looked and felt grubby and needed an urgent face lift, especially the bathroom, which had stains in the bath and grime on the... More

Uplands House is amazing value for money. Friendly and willing staff, a supern breakfast and good facilities. Okay, the rooms are a bit faded but this is a hotel like no other. Only the facade and three rooms of the original Victorian pile remain. The rest consists of a conference centre originally built in the early 80s by the Nationwide... More

My partner and I plus another couple stayed for one night before Ascot races. The grounds of the hotel and approach are very nice as are most of the public rooms. The bar was pleasant and the library/snooker room also comfortable. There did seem a problem with flies during our visit. A fly paper was hanging by the coffee machine... More

Do yourselves a favour and steer clear of this for an overnight stay. The main rooms are very pleasant, the staff are helpful and friendly. We had dinner in the restaurant and food and service good. However I stay in lots of hotels and have rarely stayed in one with such spalling accommodation ! The room was dirty and neglected.... More

We stayed here last weekend, 26th and 27th July. Rooms were clean but needed attention especially the bathroom. However, the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff far outweighed any problems. Breakfast was excellent, and 2 evening meals were tasty and good value. The old part of the hotel is a truly beautiful building in an amazing location. It will be... More

We had a weekend break at Uplands House for our anniversary and had a great time there. We used the hotel as our base while we toured the surrounding area. We arrived on Friday and because of the late hour we had a bar snack which was spot on and good value for money. We opted out of the breakfast... More

Stayed July 2014, Horrible room, really poor quality unclean horrid bathroom and sleep with one eye open! and will not be staying here again due to this fact. Food on evening was good, nicely cooked and presented. Breakfast was fine, usual fare.

The disgusting state of the rooms have been well documented; mine was no different. The carpet hadn't been hoovered in an age and everything was chipped and shabby. But the bathroom, oh my God! A black build-up of crud around the ancient taps, the same around the base of the loo pedestal, absolutely sick-making. Rusty bath handles, a 2-inch build-up... More

Like other reviewers I found that that the decor in the rooms was tired, stained, and in need of T.L.C - discoloured grout on the tiles behind the sink and shower area, dirty marks behind toilets do not mark this place too highly. There were, however, some good points - the staff during our stay were very helpful and we... More
