Took a friend for her 50th birthday for a spa day. Pool good. Although a shower at the poolside dripped all the time Lunch a complete let down. Lack of trained staff and no fryer for chips!! Took 28 minutes to get our drinks and then over an hour for a toastie. Treatments were wonderful. Very relaxing and professional. On... More

Visited the Spa today as a non resident. It's a hidden gem, really nice place, lovely staff and reasonably priced. My dad had his first ever pedicure and loved it! The hotel is lovely too, we walked through it beforehand, would love to stay there.

not bad room, lovely comfy bed. Shower was disappointing, size of shoe box and no where to put your toiletries on shelves. Not the cleanest of rooms. Had everything provided, iron, ironing board, hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffee, milk. Fridge. Air con. TV. Many of the staffs attitudes weren't the best towards us as I felt there was a bit of... Stayed for 1 night on Fri 20 Feb 2015. Very clean and comfortable throughout. Comfy mattress. Basement swimming pool very warm and relaxing with subdued lighting, and was open 6am-11pm. No jacuzzi. Reception staff very friendly. Don't be put off by the exterior of the building, looks old-fashioned from the outside but is modernised inside. Managed to get a half... More

Good points first... Room was fine. Bed was comfy. Breakfast was excellent (service and food). I used their gym on the morning which was fine. I paid £105 for one person, one Friday night including breakfast so reasonable rate. Bad points now... I booked direct on their website and it stated well lit secure car park for 100 cars. Sounded... We had a perfectly fine stay at La Mercure, but it was a fairly unremarkable hotel. Pros: The room was quite cheap. Great location. Clean. Decently comfortable. Friendly staff. Cons: Ugly building - no charm. Scratchy sheets. The shower was clogged. The TV didn't really work and they didn't even offer full freeview.

I spent two nights here on a hen weekend. Rooms were really spacious and the facilities are good. Service was efficient. One thing I didn't like was that the rooms were lit very badly. When I queried this they did give me another lamp for the room. The noise levels were high in the corridor in the early hours but... More

Just back from a one night stay and very disappointed the room was acceptable and well decorated and that was the high spot staff friendly but only did the minimum required and a simple task of arranging exit from ten car park proved difficult. The main issue was breakfast having been shown to our table we where told it wa... More

Family room for 4, with two double beds. Nice large room with large ensuite shower room. Free wifi which always pleases the children. Nice to have a socket for the hairdryer in front of the mirror, which never normally happens! Fridge big enough to keep a few drinks. Pool nice and warm, kids had great fun. About 10 minute walk...
