Usually one would expect to pay extra for staying in an exclusive area.. but it's not the case with Downs Edge. It faces the large green park, which basically links the city centre and the very exclusive residential area of Bristol. That sense of space and tranquillity in the heart of Bristol is quite special! The B&B consists of two... More

We had 3 nights at this lovely 1920's B & B. We where in the garden room. The bed was very good as was the shower and great breakfast and lots of choose. In the room there was fresh brownies (best I have tasted in some time) walking distance to pubs restaurants and other nice thing to do (zoo, gardens... More

My friend and I booked to stay here for my sons graduation. We stayed 2 nights in a lovely little twin room. Super breakfast cooked when we wanted it, which was great. Really friendly owners. We would definately come back and stay here.

Fantastic stay in a city I lived in for 18 years. The period establishment is run by warm, interesting and gracious owners and its soul reflects that in its quirkiness and charm. Nestled amongst stunning gardens, in one of Bristol's idyllic spots, all city conveniences and amenities are within very close proximity. Breakfast was fit for royalty, including home-made jams/marmalades... More

Ive been feeling pleased with myself all day for not booking some plastic chain hotel in central Bristol for the conference I had to attend, and instead finding this fabulous upmarket B&B a couple of miles away on the edge of the downs. It's slightly like I'd imagine the Professor's house in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (well,... More

Good location for our one night stay. Breakfast was good but we sat with 10 other guests on the only table in the breakfast room. The accommodation ( Blue room ) was of very poor quality , small dirty carpet. The bed was many years old and fraying around the edges, there was no support left in the mattress. The... More

This B&B was very difficult to find especially in the dark as we were late, having driven a very long distance that day. Upon arrival, we were greeted gruffly by the host as he completed walking his dog for the evening. We were disappointed to find out that we were staying in the adjacent house but later found out that... More

This was our second stay at this beautiful B and B which feels like you are in the country when truly on the edge of the huge city of Bristol. The hosts are warm and kind and attentive to every need and diet. The rooms very comfortable and well equipped. As for breakfast an amazing choice all fresh cooked and... More

I have stayed at this fine hostelry every week for months now and am forced to reply to the penultimate review that starts 'unprofessional and unfriendly'. It is not.... and the reviewer must be confused with another. Downs Edge oozes with warmth, charm and an overwhelming homely feel. I am always cheered up by the open natural friendliness of its... This lovely B&B situated right on the beautiful Downs is a real find. It has a real homely feel and the breakfast is second to none. The owners are friendly and very welcoming and although the rooms are not the most luxurious, it is a beautiful old house in a great position for seeing the City. I have very fond... More
