came for a days business in bristol and stayed for a night at downs edge. The rooms were really comfortable and full of character. Its in a great location with fantastic views over the park and the food was excellent. The host and hostess were very welcoming and i will definitely recommend and will stay at this lovely family-run establishment... more

The house is situated in a lovely part of Bristol overlooking the Downs. I was made to feel very welcome and had a very comfortable room. The breakfasts were excellent and I will certainly stay here again. more

I can only assume that the other reviewers on this page stayed somewhere different to myself. I stayed here for 3 nights whilst on a training course and my 4 colleagues were here with me. The house is in a great location on the edge of the downs and a few minutes walk across the downs to Whiteladies road and... more

My husband and I stayed one night here and were glad to leave. The only accurate thing about the website is the external shots, The hotel is in a lovely location on the Downs and it's just a short walk to some OK restaurants. On arrival we had the breakfast menu thrust at us and had to make a decision... more

Big disappointment. We were seduced by their website which describes Downs Edge as having "the warm welcome and relaxed atmosphere of a Country House combined with professionalism gained through many years of management of some of Britains finest five star Hotels" and "The en suite bedrooms are well appointed, with particular attention to detail. All the rooms enjoy sweeping views... more

I stayed here for one night, attracted by the website. I was put in a room next door (obviously used for overspill) and my room was nothing like those in the photos on the website. One of the bedside tables had broken drawer handles and the shower wasn't as clean as it should have been. For the standard of accommodation... more

I stayed 1 night . I was seduced by the website which said it was a charming place. I was put in the house next door which is used for overspill. This was drab and poorly lit. My room was spacious but poorly and cheaply furnished and carpeted. The shower room was tiny and had a very noisy fan. There... more

My mother stayed at Downs Edge twice when I was at university in Bristol. The location is perfect for Wills, Badock, Churchill, Hiatt Baker, Durdham and University Halls so is great for parents coming to visit. It's also just a short drive or a 15-20 minute walk to Clifton and the Triangle. The rooms are fine (although some rooms do... more
