I spent three nights at The Cumberland Guesthouse and received consistently great service. The Landlady was super helpful, booking me cabs in the morning, and she made every effort to ensure everything was as I wanted. I've stayed in 4* hotels that haven't been as clean, tidy and as pleasant to stay as 'The Cumberland'.

We stayed at Cumbderland Guesthouse for three night watching the City v Cardiff game and have nothing but good to say about Cumberland Guest House. For the money you pay it's well worth five stars. £23 per bed in a triple room with a full English breakfast included. So close to Ashton Gate :)

The bedrooms we saw (3 of them) were very small, but all of ours were in the top floor under the roof (rooms 6, 7 and 8). In fact the 'public' rooms downstairs were also rather small. Rooms were fairly clear and reasonably well maintained. One or two problems such as mirror over the basin having gone missing and similar.... More

I have been staying at The Cumberland Guest House since October 2010. The food, room, service, assistance, information and everything that I have experienced here has been managed extremely friendly, excellently and efficiently. I have found The Cumberland Guest House to meet everything I need whilst working in Bristol and would highly recommend it for a weekend or holiday stay... More

Stayed at the Cumberland last week for a girls weekend, had a fantastic time, the landlady was great, helped us out with where to go and what to do. The breakfasts were lovely and just what we all needed after a good night in the centre (which is only 10 mins away, about £7 by taxi) The rooms we had... More

Just back after my second year in a row staying here. This was my second time using this guesthouse as my base for the Cheltenham Festival as it is ideally located close to the main railway station and the train is only around an hour each way. Far cheaper than most hotels in Bristol and Cheltenham is out as prices... More

I think one of the reviewers on this site must have been confused describing this average B&B as a hotel. Pros: Room clean, landlady lovely and friendly, value to be had at 50 for a double. Cons: Room very small, not nice fry up for breakfast next morning (tinned tomatoes anyone?)

Booked room at last minute and couldn't have been happier with stay. Room was clean and nicely decorated. Landlady was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. Would recommend anyone to stay here. Very good value for money at £50 for a double room.
