An elegant & stylish, high-end small hotel. Well designed, spacious and comfortable. We were in Room 4 at the front overlooking the Downs. Lovely breakfast. The only downside is parking, but we found a place in a nearby street, a steep hill to the left of the hotel (facing the Downs).

Outstanding boutique B&B hotel, beautiful furnishings, great service, excellent location (about 2miles from City Centre, 15 minute stroll to Clifton village, overlooks The Downs). Really sophisticated yet unfussy.

This was our second visit to No. 38 and this time as a group of six. The fact that the majority of reviews are Good or Excellent says it all, really. The décor is just lovely- simple, stylish and contemporary. The beds are big and comfortable with really comfy pillows (a big positive in my books). The place is spotlessly... More

I had no idea I was going to love Bristol as much as I did, and a large part of the love is due to Number Thirty Eight. It's just a really great little hotel. The views across the city are gorgeous (Bristol's really pretty!) and the breakfast was delicious (perfect eggs and salmon) but my favourite things were the... More

We stayed here for the first time in Xmas 2012 and had a chance to revisit ... it was as good as we remembered. Firstly let me say that here the 2nd "B" in B&B is amongst the best that I have had anywhere in the world, even better than those I have had in 5* and 6* hotels. I... More

I would say it is a hybrid between hotel and B&B, there is no punch to the place which makes you realize that nowadays boutique hotels are the mainstay of the middle aged and the middle class - but hey this is clifton :-) the room was passable but not amazing as the finish is not of the highest quality,... This is our 2nd visit and it was as good as our last. Fantastic bedrooms with huge, comfortable double beds and views to the front over the common and the rear over Bristol. Its situated close to White Ladies Road with a range of shops and restaurants. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a delicious... More

Stayed here for one night, bedroom was spacious and relaxing. Very comfortable big bed and an amazing bathroom and bath. The room had a stunning view Bristol. Breakfast was delicious and staff very friendly.

Firstly, this is a B & B, not a hotel. Room (no. 7) was excellent, spacious and with a very comfortable bed. Good to have a settee too. However it needs a standard lamp as the lighting was poor. There were no drawers. Bathroom very large. Excellent breakfast table and cooked items. However, you have to be nimble as the... More

We stayed here for 3 nights end of June beginning July, 2014. It really deserves it's great reviews from the community. Most things have already been mentioned: Good location a bit away from the city center traffic, nice decorated rooms with some added special features like different kinds of complementary tea and nice cookies, large bathroom with both a bathtub...
