The Grand ( now the Thistle Grand) has been newly renovated. The room we had was small in size, with a king sized bed, flat screen TV, full bath done over in a contemporary chic style. It was perfect for us as we spent most of our time out roaming the streets of Bristol. Checkin was easy, front desk staff... more

We have stayed at The Grand several times over the last two years and have never been disappointed with the service we have received. This time we took our children aged 21 and 19 with us so that they could also enjoy a great weekend here. They were not disappointed either! The staff as usual were all very friendly, pleasant... more

I have stayed at 3 other Thistle/Guoman hotels and have not been overly impressed - in fact I almost didn’t book the Grand because of my past experiences with the group - In the end its location won out and I took the risk. The location is great if you want to be in Central Bristol, I booked a junior... more

We have just returned from 2 nights at the grand. we had a junior suite, for 2 adults and 2 children and couldn't fault the room-loads of space with a king size bed, a double sofa bed for the children and there was a separate dressing room too. All was immaculate as I think the rooms have just been redone.... more

I stayed at the Grand for 6 days as part of a pre-arranged business package that included breakfast. Pros: the Grand is located right in downtown Bristol and is a short walk to many great restaurants, clubs, and shopping. Some of the desk staff were superior and were very good about sorting out complex billing and arranging taxis, and all... more

I was placed in this so called four star hotel by a booking agency which assured me that it was a genuine four star hotel. I had stayed in thistle hotels before and was a bit wary but went with the recommendation. I booked two nights and arrived late because of flight delays. The room was filthy and scruffy. The... more

We stayed overnight at this hotel as part of an organised coach trip to Bath and Longleat. After an afternoon in Bath we were able to enjoy a short stroll and a relaxing couple of hours down by the waterfront watching the world go by, and also those brave enough to bungejump! The hotel is close by to bars and... more

Ok, well, i always try and write a pro and con review so that people are not put off by the negatives. This IS a 4 star hotel, in every way. There were only 2 problems really. First, saturday night there was a party on the first floor until 1am. The music was very bassy and we couldnt sleep at... more

What a pleasant surprise this hotel was. I usually stay out of town when in Bristol but i thought i would stay in the city this time but I got lost on the way in to the hotel so i phoned and the receptionist guided me in, good friendly directions and great location of the hotel. Bedroom was great, big... more

My partner and I were staying at The Royal Marriott Hotel which we couldn't fault but decided on a whim to have lunch at The Grand. The hotel doesn't seem to be very aptly named as there is nothing remotely grand about it and the portion sizes are anything but grand. We opted for the pasta stuffed with mushrooms and... more
