We stayed in 'troya' suite recently. Lovely room, free standing bath, beautiful grounds to explore. Breakfast was good. Room service drinks were pretty expensive considering it took over half an hour to arrive - £36 for 2 cokes and a shot of port with brandy. The main lights in the room did not work, one of the plugs in the... More

Thanks for your comments Matthew S. I'm sorry to read that you had a few issues with the lights and batteries in the room. My staff usually ask guests how their stay was so I'm disappointed to hear that you weren't asked and hence us not knowing about these maintenance faults. Appreciate your comments about the cost of the cokes,... More

We stayed here for just one night last year for our anniversary. We booked one of the Suites - Troya and found it to be very nice. The bed was huge and a little uncomfortable but plenty of comfy bedding to make up for it! The shower was not working properly though and for the price paid I would have... More

We ve recently had our wedding at berwick lodge and it was exactly as we had dreamt it. The food was excellent. We had a afternoon tea followed by a BBQ in the evening. The grounds are superb and we ve managed to get some great photos. Our day was very relaxed and personnel, the staff were very friendly and really... More

My wife and I have had several meals, lunches, dinners and afternoon teas at this remote but beautiful location. The last time was at a wedding reception last weekend and we can say that we have never been disappointed on each and every occasion. As well as excellent food and drink served informatively by the friendly staff, the Lodge offers... More

Staff were exceptionally nice but the afternoon tea was disappointing and not very good value for money. The setting was nice with well presented grounds. £34 for two people not including drinks. This was for some very small, plain sandwiches, tiny scones and a couple of bite size cakes slithers.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't feel the afternoon tea was value for money. You should have received tea (speciality tea menu) or coffee in the price of £17 per person and am sorry if this wasn't the case. The afternoon tea menu is being constantly reviewed and changed and your comments will be fed back to Chef and... More

Beautiful character property nested in the most peaceful surroundings. Staff was accommodating, attentive and friendly. Guest room was lovely, modern, clean and comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. Great value for money.

I visited the lodge last week for a night, initially my room was in one of the courtyard buildings and whilst the room was lovely and well appointed, it was extremely hot and they had no fan to offer me. The staff had no problem when I called them and they arranged for me to stay in the main building... More

I'm glad that we managed to sort you out with a less hot bedroom EdWinchester and that you enjoyed your stay 'in the country'. As you say, the drive to central Bristol is a pleasant (I hope the bunnies and squirrels gave you a wave off along the way) and relatively short distance, contrary to people's perception! Thanks for reviewing.... More

We took our 3 year old daughter for afternoon tea, her first introduction to this wonderful British institution and she loved it. They do a lovely children's tea which includes chocolate spread finger sandwiches and a glass of pink lemonade which our daughter thought was very grownup. The staff could not have been more helpful and made our daughter feel... More

In my view all children should be introduced to afternoon tea at a young age! Delighted you and your daughter enjoyed the experience and thanks for reviewing. Hope to welcome you back. Sarah More

Unusual place, so glad I found it don't know whether to tell all as it is such wonderful secret find. We stayed in Phrygia room which was amazing and huge with a enormous bed and fantastic bathroom. The bathroom has french doors leading out to the balcony which overlooks the beautiful gardens. You can bathe in the claw foot bath... More

Stayed for one night after a dinner at the hotel. This is an exceptional hotel, where pretty much everything about is perfect. The room I stayed in was very large and beautifully furnished in a rather quirky (but traditional) style. The rest of the hotel is similarly styled and the hotel grounds are very well kept (and lovely for an... More
