It was like arriving at a friend's house when we came in from the dark and cold after an awful Friday journey. Everywhere was warm and there was a delicious smell of cooking, which turned out to be the biggest dinner we have had in years. Sue and Chris are great company and look after you really well. Breakfasts were... More

We recently returned to Rock Cottage for one night after touring around Wales. We should have booked a week! Friendly but sensitive hosts who really welcome you. Log fires in a low beamed lounge. Lots of variety for breakfast and as much conversation as you want. The excellent reviews are not over the top at all. My best B&B ever.

If you want to get away from the stresses & strains of modern life this is the one. I was a first-time b&b-er, on my own, never been to the area. No problem! The Robinson double-act are naturals at this game - unbelievably welcoming, warm, friendly and helpful; taking nothing away from outstanding catering and housekeeping. Busybody Sue DOES DETAIL... I recently stayed for a week with Sue and Chris whilst attending a choral course nearby at Abbey Dore. This was rather intensive, and therefore I was not at Rock Cottage very much. But when I did return, sometimes late in the evening, they would invite me for a drink and chat as if I was an old friend of... More

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at Rock Cottage where we found Sue and Chris extremely welcoming. Rock cottage is really a remote haven. I had the best night sleep I have had in ages in total peace and tranquility. If you are looking for a weekend away from it all in great company, then this is the place... More

We recommend the scenery, the peace and the wonderful hospitality that Sue and Chris give to their guests. Sue's cooking is really good. We also enjoyed the restaurants that she suggested, although her clear directions are essential to get anywhere: the price of staying in such an unspoiled area. We liked the trip to the goat farm, where there is... More

This has got to be the best B&B ever to unwind, to switch off the mobile and laptop, to take a deep breath of country air, and to feel oneself again. Yes, there is excellent Internet access, too, but you just might not feel like using it! The peace of Rock Cottage is precious and you may find yourself wishing... More

Spent 2 nights at Rock Cottage and had meals both nights (extra) as there isn't a restaurant or pub in walking distance, so if you want a drink you have to take your own as Sue and Chris do not have a drinks licence (this is mentioned on their web). when we arrived at 4PM we were greeted with a... We stayed for two nights during the Hay Festival. Via hairy country lanes in pouring rain, we arrived tired and despondent, but were soon cheered up by the reception from Sue and Chris and the roaring log fire ( well, it was mid summer in England after all !). Super big bedroom (Owl's Roost) and quirky architecture from landing to... More

I knew Sue and Chris from years ago--and knew Sue was a good cook!--but this was my first visit to their lovely cottage and I was hugely impressed by the warmth of the welcome, the comfort of the accommodation, the beauty of the setting and the trouble they clearly take to make all their guests feel at home. I can... More
