A beautiful old castle right on the estuary. Full of history. We stayed in the Arch Bishop Room which was double aspect overlooking the estuary. A very interesting stay but only one pub/restaurant in the actual village. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was a good selection of breakfast available.

But I think the last cleaner was the builder! Booked to stay a few days over the phone & arrived in the afternoon. Checked in, tired after drive, unpacked and headed to town for grub. Returned and asked for extra pillow. It was delivered with an attitude, checking how many were there-(as if Anyone would steal one)!! My wife spotted... More

Ann who owns this place is extremely rude and makes her paying "guests" feel very unwelcome. As an Irish person myself, I can certainly say she is an embarrassment to renowned Irish hospitality, as I am sure many tourists from overseas would be/ have been shocked by her arrogant behaviour. My immediate impression was that she felt superior, and it... More

Where else can you stay in a castle for these kind of prices. On booking we found that all the regular rooms were booked but a 'very large room with sea view' was available at 20 euros extra. Money well spent: the Chavenage room had amazing views over the harbour, a very comfortable large bed, a sitting area, plus two... More

We stayed in the Castle, it is clean, we stayed in a self catering part called Chavenage (apartment for 2/3). One Kings size bed very comfortable and there is a single bed also that would be good for a child. It is a full sized apt. with washer and dryer. It has a working fireplace and you can buy wood... There are barely enough words to describe how wonderful this place is. First of all, it's a CASTLE! It's on a harbor and it's filled with trails and hidden gems in a delightful village. Breakfast is a great way to start a busy day and then you can walk or hike or take a short drive to Skibereen. This would... More

I am not sure I want to reviews as I do not want not to be able to return due to over bookings. This place is superb. Old, well established, fun, mystical and dreamy. All sorts of ideas come into your head of the times this place was built and the history that is involved in its making. A true... More

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel experience, 100 channels of big screen high definition and room service?? please look elsewhere. This is a B&B. A Place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Laid back and authentic as you can get, this castle is situated on a harbor just off the Atlantic..seagulls can be seen and... More

Very reasonably priced. Archbishop room on 3rd floor ocean view was very spacious with a lovely view - saw the sunrise! Nice bathroom with bidet! Hosts were very helpful when we asked about a local cemetery and church. Grounds very well kept. We'd definitely return! Loved the full Irish breakfast. Close to Skibereen, Union Hall and Drombeg stone circle. Thanks!... More
