Historic castle with period features. Could not have a better location, the views are exceptional and it's so quiet! The beds are really comfy and everywhere was clean. All of the staff are very nice and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful setting and to unwind. We went to eat in Skibbereen and found a few restaurants... More

We have just returned from a week in the appartment at the castle and it was fantastic. Although it is not all mod cons what would you expect in a castle. The view is to die for, straight onto the harbour, big bed which was comfy, kitchen with everything we needed, Great couple of pubs in the village one with... More

Our stay at Castle Townshend was lovely - we had a wonderful room with an incredible view over the harbour. Anne was a gracious host and breakfast was delicious. We went to Mary-Ann's for dinner and had a really great meal.

We came upon this quite by chance and so glad we did! The castle was impressive and full of character and the setting was simply stunning. The room was very comfortable and we were lucky enough to get a room with a balcony. Ann, the owner, was very friendly had all the time in the world for us. We stayed... More

It is a very surprising castle in a small town of Castletownshend in County Cork. It has many rooms facing the sea - with continental and full Irish breakfast, and cottages - "self catering". The landscaping is nice around the castle.

Wow! What an experience! After driving through the small 'town centre' how exciting to arrive at such an impressive castle. No less impressive when you enter the castle through the big old door and as it were, step back in time, surrounded by coats of arms, paintings, war memorabilia, heated by a burning fire! Scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast... More

The Castle is almost 400 years old. When you step into the front door you are stepping back in time. The owners, Anne and Malcolm are absolutely wonderful!!! My wife and I have been staying here for about 5 years now for our getaways and just love the peace and serenity as well as the lovely walks we can do... More

If you stay at the Castle, you are guaranteed one of the most wonderful positions of any guest house in Ireland, The Castle overlooks Castletownshend harbour, just 50 metres away. It is run by Malcolm and Anne Cochrane-Townshend and it has been in their family ever since it was built in the 17th century. We stayed (as we have many... More

We spent 2 nights here in August 2013. This accommodation is rather quaint and unusual and was exactly as expected. We stayed in the Navy Room on the top floor which is all designed along a sea blue theme with dark wood furniture and has a small but adequate en-suite shower room. Tea & coffee making is provided as is... More
