Stayed 2 nights here when the weather was baking hot and it was really lovely. The hotel is old and quaint, the staff are super polite and helpful, and the food in both the bar and restaurant were very good indeed. My room was comfortable, the bathroom was clean - there's no cause for complaint here at all. A lovely... More

We arrived around 4pm just as, unfortunately, a large party departed. This meant there was no one on the reception to greet us for several minutes which alarmed us somewhat (wondering what the attention for the rest of our stay was going to be like). We needn't have worried as all the staff were very pleasant and attended to our... More

we were attending a wedding in rowsley this weekend and were booked into the peacock hotel and i can honestly say this was the worse value for money i have ever experienced. on entering the reception area it was like going back in time, the furniture was all old fashioned and miss matched and there was a very stale unpleasant... From greetings to departure our visit was first rate. The limited number of rooms assures one of lovely personal touches. the meal in the evening was sublime. Service was absolutely impeccable & the food, was oh la la! Would go back anytime ~ & the surprise birthday card on departure was just the cherry on the top.!

We stayed for two nights for our wedding anniversary, as a treat to ourselves. Considering we paid over £300 for B&B for two people for two nights, the room was very small, too hot, and a bit noisy. The bed and fittings were of a high quality and well maintained. The garden is lovely, though spoiled by the extremely noisy... More

We stayed in Summer on a day when the top outside temperature was 20 degrees centigrade. Our bedroom and the surrounding area of corridor was incredibly hot and never cooled down throughout the night. No air conditioning and only a small ineffective fan provided. For that reason I would avoid rooms overlooking the road which are all affected. This could... More

This is a very pleasant hotel in a lovely area with great walks nearby. The food is overall very good but we were disappointed by some other aspects of the hotel. This is an expensive hotel at £320 for dinner bed and breakfast on a weekend night in July. Imagine our surprise to find that that at breakfast the menu... More

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and loved it. Really relaxed feel to the whole place. Had dinner on Friday night and as hotel guests didn't need to confirm a time for dinner which was lovely as our whole weekend was about playing things by ear. Food was great with really interesting dishes throughout the menu, it was... More

OK. The Peacock is not cheap but my goodness, it's good. We stayed for three nights. Room was lovely. Location fantastic. Service exemplary. Food outstanding. We'll be back - and with so many amazing places to stay in the UK and the rest of the world, that's unusual for us. Recommended, but my tip? Check out their website for deals.... More
